Registered Dietitian - PRN
About The Position
Directs, oversees, and evaluates the activities and functions of nutritional aspects of patient care. Ensures that nutritional needs of patients are met in accordance with practitioners’ orders and acceptable standards of practice. Supervises the nutritional aspects of patient care including developing patient menus for appropriate diets as specified by the State Department of Health and/or Clinical Dietetics Manual. Provides patient, family, and caretaker dietary counseling and education upon request, including assessing and evaluating patient tolerance to therapeutic diets when appropriate. Collaborates with other hospital services and committees (e.g., medical staff, nursing services, pharmacy service, safety, quality, etc.). Maintains pertinent patient data necessary to recommend or modify therapeutic diets as needed to meet the nutritional needs of the patients. Participates in survey inspections conducted by authorized governments and regulatory agencies and ensures regulations regarding meal service delivery, storage, service, sanitation, and disposal are adhered to. Maintains appropriate food service department policies and procedures, training guidelines, competencies, and reviews annually. Able to work independently and meet established deadlines. Conducts regular unannounced inspections of the hospital and caterer’s kitchens to ensure compliance with the Department of Health. Demonstrates the spirit of the philosophy, mission, and values of the hospital through words and actions and implements them into departmental processes, programs, and the working environment. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Registered Dietitian through the Commission on Dietetic Registration
- LD status preferred.
- 2 years hospital dietician or nutritionist experience preferred.
