The Clinical Dietitian is responsible for all patient care activities relating to nutrition. The clinical dietitian's duties include the assessment of the patient's nutrition requirements, development and implementation of individualized nutrition care plans, along with the evaluation and monitoring of care using the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) evidence based guidelines. Goals set to provide optimal nutrition care to all patients in conjunction with all other disciplines. Provide accurate assessments and recommendations for patients requiring enteral or parenteral nutrition following ASPEN guidelines. Responsible for comprehensive education of the patient/family, staff and community on all nutrition related topics. Work with the Diet & Nutrition Services staff to provide high quality, safe and nutritious meals to all patients to encourage healing and a better health outcome. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Completion of an education program that meets the standards and is accredited by ACEND through the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics
  • Certified Diabetes Educator OR obtain CDE within 1 year of employment
  • Registration through the Commission of Dietetic Registration with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics
  • Florida state licensed
  • Annual Joint Commission mandatory education requirements, in-service and health requirements including attendance at new employee orientation
  • TB/PPD Surveillance Program
  • Maintenance of required professional licensing and/or certification(s)

Nice To Haves

  • masters degree preferred
  • Minimium 1-year acute-care hospital experience preferred
