About The Position

The Registered Dietitian (RD) plays a vital role in promoting optimal nutritional health and wellness for patients within a healthcare environment. This position involves assessing nutritional needs, developing individualized care plans, and providing evidence-based dietary counseling to support medical treatment and recovery. The RD collaborates closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care. Person-and family-centered care (PFCC) is an approach to care that recognizes the importance of family in a patient’s life and the importance of their active involvement in planning and making decisions on health care, services and treatment, and health system reform. This approach to care provides respectful, compassionate, culturally safe, and responsive care that meets the needs, values, beliefs, and preferences of the patient, their family, and others identified as significant to their life from diverse backgrounds and settings.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in dietetics, nutrition or a related field, such as food and nutrition science
  • Be in good standing with the College of Dieticians of Ontario
  • At least one year of experience, preferable in a community environment
  • Strong knowledge of nutritional science and dietary guidelines.
  • Excellent English communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary health team.
  • Compassionate and empathetic nature.
  • Ability to produce a clear criminal background check with vulnerable sector screening
  • Reliable transportation

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive nutritional assessments to understand clients’ dietary needs and health goals.
  • Develop and implement personalized nutrition plans based on clients’ health status, preferences, and lifestyle.
  • Provide education and counseling on healthy eating habits, food choices, and lifestyle changes to promote overall well-being.
  • Monitor clients’ progress and provide ongoing support and adjustments to their nutrition plans as needed.
  • Conduct workshops and seminars on various nutrition-related topics to educate the community.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure a holistic approach to clients’ health and wellness.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of clients’ assessments, plans, and progress.
