About The Position

Bakersfield Behavioral Healthcare Hospital is seeking a Registered Dietitian (RD) to join their team. This role is responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and monitoring nutritional services and medical nutrition therapy for patients in an acute psychiatric hospital setting. The RD will collaborate with physicians, nursing, dietary staff, and other interdisciplinary team members to ensure optimal patient health outcomes and compliance with state, federal, and accrediting body standards. This is a fast-paced environment that requires critical thinking, exceptional leadership, teamwork, and communication skills. The position is per diem and requires dietary audits three times per week, monthly inspections, in-services, and dietary consults as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, or related field.
  • Knowledge of TJC, Federal, and State (CDPH) dietary regulations.
  • Minimum of 1 year of clinical nutrition experience.
  • CPR (Current)
  • Handle with Care (Prior to completion of orientation).
  • Current registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) as a Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN).
  • Previous experience in a mental healthcare hospital environment serving the dietary needs of those experiencing human behavior, psychiatry, psychology, or other mental healthcare situations is preferred for shortlist consideration.
