Under the guidance of the Clinical Nutrition Manager, this role is responsible for the implementation of the nutrition care program based on established objectives, standards, policies, and procedures, as well as local, state, and federal regulations. The position assists in maintaining sound inter-departmental relations and integrating the Dining Services department with the community plan of operations. It is responsible for nutrition care throughout the community. Available hours are 32 hours bi-weekly, typically 9 am-5:30 pm, every Tuesday and Thursday with some flexibility. The role provides medical/clinical nutrition therapy for the community resident population, including nutrition assessment, modified diet formulation, nutrition intervention/monitoring, and nutrition education to residents and families. The Registered Dietitian attends care plan meetings as required, completes all required nutritional assessments, resident care plans, and pertinent/high-risk charting in resident medical records (EMR) as assigned and/or per CMS guidelines, and monitors EMR and related reports daily. The position assists the food and nutrition team with updating house diet orders, resident meal preferences at the time of service, updating menu selection sheets for meal production, and reviewing food production tallies as needed for daily meal service. It implements diet plans and physician's diet orders using appropriate modifications, identifies nutrition concerns, and makes appropriate referrals. The role assists with supervising the preparation and service of therapeutic diets and recommended supplementation, ensuring resident satisfaction, quality care, regulatory compliance, and good public relations through the safe and efficient use of resources. It assures menu and foods provided meet regulated nutritional standards and food safety requirements per food and nutrition services regulations. The Registered Dietitian participates with the Dining Services team in daily meal rounds to monitor quality and accuracy of menu items with each cycle menu. The position prepares, plans, and conducts departmental meetings and in-service programs, and provides education to team members of all departments as requested. It creates an enjoyable dining experience for residents and their guests and serves on committees and in professional organizations as required. The role maintains accreditation through attendance/participation in continuing education and training to maintain status as a Registered/Licensed Dietitian and remains current and knowledgeable of all regulatory changes to develop and implement all necessary changes per recommended/mandatory time frames.
