The registered dietitian is a member of an interdisciplinary team who is responsible for providing quality medical nutritional therapy to patients. Responsibilities will include communicating relevant information to other team members, food services, and medical staff and providing education to staff, patients/families and others as needed. Requirements

  • RD Licensure or RD eligible with credentialing obtained within 90 days of hire.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree and dietetic internship.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficient in Nutrition Care Process.
  • One year clinical experience in the patient population area to be served.
  • Proficient in nutrition support calculations for both enteral and parenteral nutrition.
  • Have knowledge in or be able to learn/perform Nutrition Focused Physical Examinations.
  • Familiar with and able to navigate and electronic medical record.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses the nutritional status of patients and develops appropriate individualized nutrition care plan.
  • Completes documentation of all patient assessments, interventions, education, interdisciplinary communication and patient outcome accurately and on time.
  • Considers medical, physical, psychological, environmental, age level, and developmental, cultural, ethnic, religious, and language needs in planning and carrying out nutritional interventions.
  • Monitors effectiveness of nutrition care plan and makes appropriate recommendations and changes as needed.
  • Coordinates nutrition care with food services and provides guidance, education, and direction to dietetic technician(s) and food and nutrition employees when appropriate.
  • Provides education, training and supervision of support staff, volunteers, paraprofessional or other disciplines as appropriate.
  • Plans for discharge/education needs and provides necessary materials, referrals and resources.
  • Attends team meetings to share patient data and goals and communicates with team members to develop and implement an interdisciplinary plan of care.
  • Promotes continuous quality improvement and collects Quality Assurance/Compliance data.
