About The Position

Marana Health is seeking a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist – Medical to join the Clinical Operations team at the Marana Main Health Center, located in the heart of Marana, AZ. The Registered Dietitian Nutritionist – Medical (RDN) supports the interdisciplinary teams by providing nutritional assessment, education, and management to patients with, or at risk of disease, complications, cognitive and functional decline. The RDN develops and implements an individualized care plan designed to promote the patient’s understanding and management of their condition, optimize quality of life, and improve clinical outcomes. Marana Health is a Federally Qualified Community Health Center (FQHC), with 11 sites in Tucson and Pima County. Requirements

  • Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) (Didactic Program in Dietetics) or registration-eligible status as specified by (ACEND) is required at time of appointment. Registration must be obtained within 1 year from the time of appointment and must be maintained thereafter as a condition of employment.
  • Bachelor’s degree from a program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) (Didactic Program in Dietetics)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (may be completed with MH upon hire)
  • First Aid certification (may be completed with MH upon hire)
  • Fingerprint Clearance Card through the Arizona Department of Public Safety
  • Current Arizona driver’s license with clean driving record and proof of current vehicle insurance (39-month MVR will be run by MH)

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE from NCBDE) or Board Certified-Advanced Diabetes Management (BC-ADM from AADE) credential
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered if applicable and must be directly related to the functions and body of knowledge required to successfully perform the job.

Responsibilities

  • Consults with clinicians regarding patients’ diagnosis, prognosis, and progress.
  • Ensures patients and families receive accurate explanations of nutritional assessments and goals for needed changes and maintenance of health.
  • Instruct patient and/or family members in the proper and safe usage of supplements, formulas, diets, and activity.
  • Monitors high-risk client progress.
  • Develops personalized core meal plans for patients based on medical diagnosis Social Determinants of Health.
  • Coordinates patient services and referrals with appropriate agencies when necessary.
  • Documents Nutrition Care Plans.
  • Develops and/or approves nutrition education materials and protocols.
  • Acts as a liaison to public and government agencies, health care providers and hospitals regarding nutrition and program service issues.
  • Participates in the development of policies and procedures.
  • Assists in developing training/onboarding and educational plans for staff in the area of nutrition.
  • Acts as preceptor/proctor for medical/dietetic internships.
  • Assists in planning and coordinating outreach efforts and/or other clinical programs or projects.
  • Responds to requests for information by providing written information and/or verbal presentations when requested.
  • Attends nutrition education workshops, regional training, departmental in-services and MH-sponsored in-services as assigned.
  • Develops rapport and foster open communication with staff and patients.
  • Provides nutrition education to patients individually or in groups.
  • Maintains confidentiality.
  • Demonstrates the ability to use interpretation and/or translation services to collect information from patients with limited English proficiency.
  • Plans and participates in community outreach activities.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with employees, other agencies and the public.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
