About The Position

The Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) is the lead agency responsible for protecting lives and promoting healthy lifestyles in diverse communities across Georgia. The Columbus Health Department, part of the DPH, is seeking a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist/Health Educator to provide nutrition services to clients in the WIC Program. This role involves supporting the mission of protecting Georgian residents through various public health initiatives. The position is based in Columbus and requires travel to surrounding counties.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in dietetics, human nutrition, foods and nutrition, nutrition education, food systems management, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university.
• Verification statement of completion of a didactic program accredited by The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
• Two years of experience providing nutrition care to groups and individuals (for Nutritionist/Dietitian 2).
• One year of experience as a dietitian/nutritionist (for Nutritionist/Dietitian 3).
• Registration as a Dietitian by the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics Commission on Dietetic Registration (for Nutritionist/Dietitian 3).
• Licensure as a Dietitian in the State of Georgia (for Nutritionist/Dietitian 3).

Nice To Haves

• Candidates without a verification statement, but with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a nutrition field from an ACEND accredited Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) and a letter from the DPD program director stating successful completion, may be eligible.
• Candidates with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nutritional Sciences, Community Nutrition, Clinical Nutrition, Dietetics, or Public Health Nutrition from an accredited college or university that meets specific coursework criteria may be eligible.

Responsibilities

• Provide nutrition services to clients in the WIC Program as assigned.
• Complete nutrition screenings, assessments, and provide education for eligible WIC clients.
• Travel to the surrounding 16 counties as assigned.
