About The Position

Marin Community Clinics, founded in 1972, is a multi-clinic network providing integrated primary care, dental, behavioral, specialty, and referral services. As a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), they serve nearly 40,000 individuals annually in Marin County and have received national awards from HRSA. Their mission is to promote health and wellness through excellent, compassionate care for all. The Bilingual Registered Dietitian (RD) is responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating, and evaluating the nutritional component of healthcare services. This role ensures compliance with all licensing standards for Registered Dietitians, provides Medical Nutrition Therapy based on provider referrals, teaches group classes, and contributes to clinic-wide nutrition education materials.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from the American Dietetic Association (ADA) accredited program.
  • National certification by the Commission on Dietetic Registration as a Registered Dietitian.
  • Must maintain CEUs as required for certification renewals.
  • Ability to learn and utilize effectively the electronic medical records and charting system (EPIC).
  • Effective communication ability in English.
  • Intermediate knowledge of computers and Windows environment.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Fullfill immunization and fit for duty regulatory requirements.
  • Prolonged standing, walking, and prolonged periods sitting at desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times and move medical equipment.
  • Fine motor hand movements typical of performing standard RD job duties.
  • Able to read charts graphs and readings on medical equipment.

  • May occasionally work outdoors and in inclement weather.

Responsibilities

  • May provide individualized Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) to patients in Marin Community Clinics O.B. program (Sweet Success), including subjective, objective, and assessment planning based on medical provider diagnosis and referral.
  • May confer with medical providers, behavioral health therapists, and CPSP case managers on patient care and share critical patient information.
  • Participates in the patient care team.
  • Documents MNT patient visits into the electronic medical record in compliance with all standards and rules regarding Medical Nutrition Therapy.
  • Develops, updates, and researches nutrition education materials, presenting them to providers and clinic staff as needed to ensure consistent nutrition messages.
  • Role models and utilizes motivational interviewing and patient-centered counseling techniques.
  • Ensures the patient is always at the center of nutrition care and intervention.
  • Provides group nutrition and health education for the diabetes group and other groups as needed.
  • Participates in health fair activities in the local community and provides consultation to and works with community groups.
  • Conducts or participates in in-service education and consultation with professional staff and supporting personnel of MCC and related organizations.
  • Refers patients to specialists and to relevant patient care components as appropriate.
  • Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, including continuous quality improvement, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
  • As appropriate, participates in specific health promotions, education, and/or prevention programs.
  • Attends medical staff meetings and general staff meetings.
  • Maintains a professional relationship with staff and patients.
  • Assists in the coordination and integration of all health clinic outreach programs as directed by the Chief Medical Officer.
  • Performs other related and/or necessary tasks to achieve clinic goals and objectives, as directed by the Chief Medical Officer.
