About The Position

Marin Community Clinics, founded in 1972, is a multi-clinic network providing integrated primary care, dental, behavioral, specialty, and referral services. As a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), they serve nearly 40,000 individuals annually in Marin County and have received national awards from HRSA. The Bilingual Registered Dietitian (RD) is responsible for the nutritional component of patient care, adhering to licensing standards. This role involves providing Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) based on provider referrals, leading group classes, and contributing to clinic-wide nutrition education materials.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an American Dietetic Association (ADA) accredited program.
  • National certification by the Commission on Dietetic Registration as a Registered Dietitian.
  • Maintain CEUs as required for certification renewals.
  • Ability to learn and effectively utilize the electronic medical records and charting system (EPIC).
  • Effective communication ability in English.
  • Intermediate knowledge of computers and Windows environment.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Fulfill immunization and fit for duty regulatory requirements.
  • Prolonged standing, walking, and prolonged periods sitting at desk and working on a computer.
  • Able to lift up to 25 pounds at times and move medical equipment.
  • Fine motor hand movements typical of performing standard RD job duties.
  • Able to read charts, graphs, and readings on medical equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) to patients, including all required components (Subjective, Objective, Assessment, Plan) based on medical provider diagnosis and referral.
  • Confer with medical providers, behavioral health therapists, and CPSP case managers on patient care and share critical patient information.
  • Participate in the patient care team.
  • Document MNT patient visits in the electronic medical record (EPIC) in compliance with all standards.
  • Develop, update, and research nutrition education materials, and present them to providers and staff.
  • Utilize motivational interviewing and patient-centered counseling techniques, ensuring the patient is central to care.
  • Provide group nutrition and health education for diabetes and other groups as needed.
  • Participate in health fair activities and provide consultation to community groups.
  • Conduct or participate in in-service education and consultation with professional staff and supporting personnel.
  • Refer patients to specialists and relevant patient care components as appropriate.
  • Follow established departmental policies, procedures, objectives, and quality improvement standards.
  • Participate in health promotions, education, and prevention programs.
  • Attend medical staff and general staff meetings.
  • Maintain professional relationships with staff and patients.
  • Assist in coordinating and integrating health clinic outreach programs.
  • Perform other related tasks as directed by the Chief Medical Officer.
