The Registered Dietitian (RD) for Adult Lung Transplant will competently provide and document age-appropriate medical nutrition therapy to patients. This role involves utilizing the nutrition care process, assessing nutritional needs, developing individualized nutrition plans, and monitoring patient response. The dietitian may also modify diets, order supplements, initiate tube feedings, and order measurements like head circumference, height, length, and weight. They may also propose orders for vitamins, minerals, pancreatic enzymes, and parenteral nutrition. Effective communication with the healthcare team and food service is essential. Additionally, the role includes training healthcare professionals, serving as a clinical preceptor, and assisting with the training of new hires. For applicable positions, involvement in research is expected, including attending research meetings, maintaining CITI certification, assisting with research protocols, and providing administrative support for research subject activities. The position requires adherence to the Code of Ethics for the profession of dietetics and accountability for actions. The dietitian must demonstrate knowledge and skills to provide equitable care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
