About The Position

Methodist Dallas Medical Center is seeking a Registered Dietician to work PRN, specifically on Saturdays. This role involves assessing patients for nutritional risk, developing and implementing nutrition intervention plans, and collaborating with healthcare teams. The position requires a strong understanding of nutrition care processes, disease states, and patient education. Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree meeting academic requirements and successful completion of an accredited Dietetic Internship program or Coordinated Undergraduate Program in Dietetics
  • Master’s Degree (required beginning 2024)
  • Eligible to take the Commission on Dietetics Registration Exam (CDR)
  • Current license as a Registered Dietician by the state of Texas
  • Registered Dietitian with the Commission of Dietetics Registration or eligible for registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
  • If registration eligible, must pass the dietetic registration within 6 months of hire.
  • License with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) required after successful completion of Commission on Dietetics Registration Exam.
  • Ability to make independent and responsible decisions. Self-starter and demonstrates initiative
  • Ability to maintain and exhibit professionalism
  • Able to communicate effectively with physicians, patients, family members and other facility staff
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to pediatric through geriatric patients
  • Demonstrates knowledge of principles of growth and development over the life span and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s requirements relative to his/her pediatric through geriatric needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the unit’s departmental guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Appropriately assesses patients at nutritional risk via screening reference.
  • Manage the development and implementation plan for nutrition intervention(s) in accordance with Nutrition Care Process.
  • Respond to requests and consults timely according to policy.
  • Documents nutrition intervention in detailed, accurate, and appropriate manner.
  • Recommends additional nutrition therapy as needed.
  • Develops individualized plan of care.
  • Works collaboratively with other health care disciplines in developing interdisciplinary plan of care and discharge planning.
  • Develops education plan based on needs assessment.
  • Assesses patient and family learning needs, identifies barriers to learning, mode of learning.
  • Effectively explains diet requirements, restrictions, and food/drug interactions.
  • Demonstrates respect for patient and family spiritual, cultural, and privacy needs.
  • Displays knowledge of disease states and keeps abreast of developments in the field of nutrition in order to provide the highest quality of care.
  • Participates in the monitoring and reporting of quality indicators for clinical nutrition and food service.
  • Assists as needed in food production, policy development and special projects.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.
