About The Position

Onsite Women's Health is dedicated to enhancing women's healthcare by providing comprehensive mammography services in partnership with healthcare providers nationwide. We utilize clinical expertise, innovative technology, and proprietary protocols to deliver personalized and convenient breast care. Our approach emphasizes convenience to improve compliance with breast cancer screening, thereby saving lives. By integrating mammography and breast care services within primary care or OB/GYN practices and scheduling appointments alongside annual exams, we make compliance more accessible for patients. This role offers a fast-paced, high-energy, and customer-focused environment where you will independently operate sonographic equipment, perform diagnostic breast examinations, and communicate findings. You will also manage the daily operations of the sonographic laboratory, including equipment maintenance, reporting failures, and quality assessment.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Sonography
  • ARDMS certification in Ultrasound
  • Breast imaging experience is a must
  • Active certification by American Registry of RDMSs (ARDMS) in the specialty(ies) as appropriate
  • Current compliance with Continuing Medical Education (CME) requirements for specialty(ies) as appropriate
  • Self-starter who can work without daily supervision

Nice To Haves

  • ARDMS or ARRT Breast Certification is desired
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography is desirable

Responsibilities

  • Prepare exam room and ultrasound equipment to conduct sonography examinations in accordance with infection control, sterilization, and patient safety protocols.
  • Ensure patient safety during sonographic examinations.
  • Review patient medical history and relevant clinical information.
  • Verify that the sonography examination order is complete, contains necessary information, and meets the standard of 'medical necessity.'
  • Evaluate contraindications, insufficient patient preparation, and patient inability or unwillingness to tolerate the examination.
  • Communicate with patients appropriately based on their ability to understand.
  • Utilize proper patient positioning, tools, devices, equipment adjustment, and ergonomic scanning techniques to ensure patient comfort, safety, and prevent sonographer injury.
  • Conduct patient clinical assessments and perform ordered diagnostic medical sonography examinations according to professional and facility protocols.
  • Apply independent professional, ethical judgment, and critical thinking to safely perform diagnostic sonography procedures.
  • Exercise independent judgment during examinations to accurately capture relevant anatomical, pathological, and clinical conditions.
  • Refer specific diagnostic, treatment, or prognosis questions to the appropriate physician or healthcare professional, as authorized by facility policies.
  • Acquire additional ultrasound imaging as needed to optimize diagnostic results for the interpreting physician.
  • Identify and document any limitations to the sonography examination.
  • Review examination images, synthesize findings, and prepare preliminary reports.
  • Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality in accordance with privacy laws (e.g., HIPAA) and facility policies.
  • Adhere to accepted professional and ethical standards.
  • Provide patient services consistent with the Scope of Practice and Clinical Standards for the Diagnostic Sonographer.
  • Provide a preliminary report of sonography examinations for the interpreting physician.
  • Assist with the daily operation of the sonography facility.
