About The Position

Smile North Carolina, a school-based mobile dental practice, is seeking a Registered Dental Hygienist to provide dental care to underserved children at schools in Statesville, North Carolina, and surrounding areas. The program brings dental services directly to schools using portable equipment or a self-contained mobile dental facility. The workday follows the school day, typically about 6–7 hours, averaging 8:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M., with evenings, weekends, and summers off. The position includes daily travel to school sites and offers a benefits package, flexible scheduling, and competitive compensation.

Requirements

Hold an active Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) license.
Have working experience as a Registered Dental Hygienist.
Have a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and willingness to travel to schools in nearby counties.
Work well with children.
Be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Hold current CPR (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

Assist with oral health management for all patients and work as a team player.
Verify each patient's identity using their name and date of birth before treatment, and initial the medical chart to document verification.
Obtain an oral health assessment for each patient, including baseline assessments for new patients and follow-up assessments for returning patients.
Review patients' medical histories and other pertinent oral health information.
Provide oral hygiene services, including dental prophylaxis, scaling, sealant application, and fluoride application, consistent with accepted best practices and standards.
Provide dental assistance as directed by the dentist.
Provide oral health education and individual counseling according to recognized oral health care practices, including tooth brushing and flossing.
Document dental services provided in each patient's chart.
Travel daily to and from school sites.
