About The Position

Ohio Dental Outreach, a school-based mobile dental practice, is seeking a Registered Dental Hygienist to provide dental care to underserved children at schools in Dayton, Ohio, and surrounding areas. The in-school program offers a different work environment from a traditional dental practice, with a schedule that ends with the school day and no nights or weekends. Hygienists travel to school sites and provide preventive and other dental services using portable dental equipment and digital radiography. Full-time and part-time positions are available.

Requirements

Hold an active Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) license.
At least 1 year of experience as a Registered Dental Hygienist.
Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and willingness to travel to schools across counties.
Ability to work well with children and adults.
Current CPR (BLS) certification.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

Assist with the oral health management of all patients and work as a team player.
Verify each patient's identity using their name and date of birth before treatment, and initial the medical chart to document verification.
Obtain an oral health assessment for each patient, including baseline assessments for new patients and follow-up assessments for returning patients.
Review patients' medical histories and other pertinent oral health information.
Provide oral hygiene services, including dental prophylaxis, scaling, sealant application, and fluoride application, in accordance with accepted best practices and standards.
Provide dental assistance as directed by the dentist.
Provide oral health education and individual counseling, including guidance on tooth brushing and flossing.
Document dental services provided in the patient's chart.
Travel daily to and from school sites.
