About The Position

The Registered Dental Hygienist is responsible for the provision of preventative and treatment services in a Patient Centered Health Home context, with a focus on access to care.

Requirements

  • Possesses specific advanced knowledge and skills, including written and verbal communication skills, computational, computer, and technical skills, and mathematical knowledge, frequently acquired through completion of an Associate's or Bachelor’s degree program with a recognized major with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5; or successful attainment and maintenance of a valid, active professional license required for the role, issued by the appropriate governing or regulatory body.
  • Possesses specific advanced knowledge skills, including written and verbal communications skills, computational, computer and technical skills, and mathematical knowledge acquired through the completion of an accredited Dental Hygiene program.
  • Must have proof of completing a Radiation Safety Course.
  • Have a minimum credit score of 650.
  • Ability to create highly complex documents in Microsoft Word, including linking multiple files and embedding objects linked to other documents.
  • Ability to use advanced functions of Microsoft Excel, such as to create and manage databases, including creating standardized reports, or linking multiple worksheets and workbooks.
  • Ability to develop sophisticated presentations in Microsoft PowerPoint, including the use of embedded objects, transitions and other elements.
  • Licensed as a Dental Hygienist with the state of California.
  • Job duties require the compilation and analysis of information prepared in effective written form, including correspondence, reports, articles or other documentation.
  • Duties require preparation and execution of presentations to large groups.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting oral health assessments, including reviewing/screening oral health conditions (health history, oral cancer screenings, head/neck inspection, dental charting, blood pressure/pulse) and taking dental radiographs.
  • Taking dental impressions and pouring models.
  • Performing all preventative and hygiene services in accordance with the California Dental practice act, including removing calculus and plaque, polishing and contouring restorations, applying preventative materials (sealants and fluoride), and teaching patients appropriate oral hygiene strategies.
  • Maintaining sanitary/sterile armamentarium by adhering to infection control procedures, assuring operatory sanitation and setup, and working with dental assistants to ensure appropriate instruments.
  • Organizing and assisting community oral health events, including collaborating with community health staff, conducting and recording oral health findings, assuring completion of forms and signatures, and organizing follow-up procedures.
  • Adhering to the Attendance and Absenteeism Policy.
  • Ability to present to and work at any FHCN location.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
