About The Position

Registered Dental Assistants perform patient care, office, and laboratory duties. The primary role is to assist the dentist in helping patients commit to the best possible treatment with urgency. This includes using x-ray time to highlight the dentist’s qualities, learning patients’ expectations and educating them with intra-oral pictures, providing effective and anticipatory chair-side support, and supporting the dentist’s diagnosis when patients ask questions. The RDA must follow procedures for compliance with state and federal safety regulations, infection control, and permitted duties.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED, and state-mandated training courses for certification, licensure, or registration.
• Certifications, licenses, or registrations mandated by the applicable state, such as coronal polish, radiograph exposure, ultrasonic scaling for orthodontic procedures, or pit and fissure sealant application.

Nice To Haves

• Associate degree or one-year certificate from an accredited college or technical school, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist the dentist as necessary to help patients commit to the best possible treatment with urgency.
• Participate in the Perfect Patient Experience by keeping patients focused on optimal treatment while addressing their individual needs and concerns.
• Maintain a clean, sterile, and cheerful environment; prepare patients for treatment and assist doctors in providing efficient, quality dental treatment.
• Complete x-rays and intra-oral pictures of patients at the direction of the dentist.
• Instruct patients on postoperative and general oral health care at the direction of the dentist.
• Sterilize and disinfect instruments, equipment, and operatories in accordance with American Dental Association guidelines.
• Maintain compliance with applicable state, federal, and other regulations and policies, including OSHA, WC, Dental Board, HIPAA, ADA, DOL, and HR policies and practices.
