About The Position

CHOC is seeking a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) for their Orthodontics clinic in Orange, CA. This is a Per Diem position. The RDA will assist chairside with dental procedures, utilizing extensive knowledge of dental insurance, medical terminology, and front office processes. Responsibilities include patient insurance verification, authorizations, eligibility, copay collection, and scheduling. The position requires working at least 4 shifts per pay period, primarily on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with potential for other days. Shifts can range from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM or 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM.

Requirements

Minimum of two (2) years of experience in dental front office or clinical coordination.
Experience in patient scheduling, insurance verification, and benefits coordination.
High School Diploma or GED.
Completion of an accredited Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) program.
Active and current RDA license in good standing.
CPR/BLS certification.
Knowledge of dental and medical insurance plans, billing codes, and terminology.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to interact with patients and team members professionally.
Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Competency in Microsoft Office and dental EHR systems.

Nice To Haves

One (1) year of experience assisting chairside as an RDA in general or specialty dental practice.
Familiarity with eligibility portals, EHR software, and medical charting software (e.g., EPIC).
Understanding of dental codes (CDT) (HCPCS) and ICD-10 for medical billing.
Bilingual in English/Spanish.
Knowledge of medical necessity documentation for dental-medical crossover.

Responsibilities
