About The Position

Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) Lead provides clinical leadership and operational oversight of back-office dental functions. The RDA Lead is to ensure workflow efficiency, compliance readiness, staff competency, and equipment and supply management. This position supports the dental workflows by ensuring that all dental back-office operations run consistently, safely, productively, and meets or exceeds regulatory standards and organizational expectations.

  • Active CA license and certification as a Registered Dental Assistant
  • Two (2) years minimum experience as a Registered Dental Assistant
  • Current BLS Certification
  • Valid State Identification

  • High School Diploma and/or GED equivalent preferred, but not required.
  • Knowledge of NextGen and Digital x-rays, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform all RDA duties within state regulations and organizational privileging
  • Ensure that all patients are in the dental chairs in accordance to their appointment time
  • Ensure highly exceptional patient experience at all times.
  • Maintain high-efficiency chairside support to reduce provider downtime and improve visit throughput
  • Ensure accurate, complete, and timely documentation in the dental record
  • Reinforce patient education to improve treatment acceptance and preventative care compliance from all dental staff
  • Ensure daily back-office operations and workflow execution are handled efficiently without gaps.
  • Drive patient flow to meet productivity targets and minimize gaps in provider schedules
  • Identify bottlenecks and implement corrective actions in real time
  • Partner with Clinic Manager to align staffing, scheduling, and operational priorities
  • Train, onboard, and validate competencies of back-office staff to meet all NECC standards and follow all Policies and Procedures.
  • Serve as first-line resource for clinical workflow and procedural guidance
  • Monitor staff performance and escalate concerns to leadership
  • Reinforce accountability to policies, procedures, and expected standards
  • Ensure optimal inventory levels are maintained with zero disruption to patient care
  • Coordinate ordering and prevent overstock or shortages
  • Implement standard quality and efficiency levels across operatories
  • Ensure full accountability of end-to-end lab case process from packaging to delivery to ensure all cases are tracked, documented, and scheduled for follow-up
  • Communicate with labs to prevent delays and resolve discrepancies
  • Ensure timely submission and tracking of lab invoices
  • Ensure all dental equipment remains functional and compliant
  • Work closely with Clinic Manager to coordinate preventive maintenance including handpieces, vacuum, compressor, and operatory systems
  • Coordinate repairs and minimize downtime
  • Maintain all required equipment logs and documentation audit-ready
  • Ensure strict adherence to infection control standards
  • Ensure completion and documentation of spore testing, waterline maintenance, and required testing schedules and maintain updated dental logs.
  • Immediately escalate and track resolution of failed tests or compliance risks
  • Maintain readiness for internal and external audits at all times
  • Ensure proper distribution, tracking, and compliance of dosimeter badges and maintain all required radiation safety logs and documentation
  • Participate in quality improvement (QI) initiatives tied to clinical outcomes and operational performance
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and inspection-ready environment
  • Other Duties and responsibilities as assigned to support clinic and organizational goals by the Clinic Manager
