About The Position

Sentara CarePlex Hospital, in Hampton, VA, is currently hiring a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist. This is a full time, day shift position and requires "on-call" with a 30-minute response time. Up to 10K Sign on Bonus Available for Qualified Candidates! Hours Monday – Friday: 7am-3:30pm, along with approximately 15 days of call per month (about every 3rd or 4th weekend). The Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist is a highly trained and specialized healthcare professional who plays a critical role in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular conditions. Working at a professional level, this role is central to the functioning of cardiac catheterization laboratories and other invasive cardiovascular environments. The Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist assists physicians in performing diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures and operates within a multidisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes and procedural efficiency. Primary responsibilities include acting as a first assistant to physicians during diagnostic and interventional procedures such as cardiac catheterizations, angioplasties, and electrophysiology studies. The Specialist operates and monitors advanced imaging and hemodynamic equipment, ensures accurate data collection, and maintains a sterile environment throughout all procedures. They are responsible for patient preparation, real-time monitoring, procedural documentation, and post-procedure care coordination. The Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist administers medication under the direction of a qualified physician; ensures compliance with all hospital policies, HIPAA regulations, and accreditation standards; participates in on-call rotation and responds rapidly to emergency cases, including STEMI activations; and contributes to ongoing quality assurance and process improvement initiatives in the cath lab.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a diploma, associate, or bachelor level program in health science (includes, but not limited to, cardiovascular technology, ultrasound, radiologic technology, respiratory therapy, or nursing) (Required)
  • Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) (Required)
  • BLS (Required)
  • ACLS must be obtained within 90 days of hire
  • 1 year experience as a Cardiovascular Technician

Responsibilities

  • Acting as a first assistant to physicians during diagnostic and interventional procedures such as cardiac catheterizations, angioplasties, and electrophysiology studies.
