About The Position

Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center is hiring a Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist for a PRN/Flexi, day shift position in Woodbridge, VA! This role primarily covers STEMI Call and PTO. Must be within 30 minutes of the facility for on call requirements. The Cath Lab at Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center is a 50-person team of monitor techs, cardiovascular invasive techs, registered nurses and patient care staff for additional support. The team sees a mix of inpatient and outpatient and an average of 10 procedures per day. Heart and Vascular has 3 labs for EP, Cardiac and IR at SNVMC.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or Equivalent required
  • A graduate of a diploma, associates, or bachelor's health sciences program (includes, but is not limited to cardiovascular technology, ultrasound, radiologic technology, respiratory therapy or nursing) or a licensed/certified EMT or paramedic.
  • American Registry Of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) REQUIRED
  • BLS required
  • ACLS required within 90 days of hire
  • Cardiovascular Invasive Technologist or working in an invasive cardiac environment 1 year Required

Nice To Haves

  • Trade School graduate preferred
  • Medication administration experience preferred
  • Specialty procedures experience preferred
  • EP and Cardiac Cath Experience preferred
  • Sterile procedure experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Acting as a first assistant to physicians during diagnostic and interventional procedures such as cardiac catheterizations, angioplasties, and electrophysiology studies.
  • Operating and monitoring advanced imaging and hemodynamic equipment.
  • Ensuring accurate data collection.
  • Maintaining a sterile environment throughout all procedures.
  • Patient preparation, real-time monitoring, procedural documentation, and post-procedure care coordination.
  • Administering medication under the direction of a qualified physician.
  • Ensuring compliance with all hospital policies, HIPAA regulations, and accreditation standards.
  • Participating in on-call rotation and responding rapidly to emergency cases, including STEMI activations.
  • Contributing to ongoing quality assurance and process improvement initiatives in the cath lab.
