About The Position

The Registered Cardiology Technologist performs non-invasive cardiac diagnostic tests including Electrocardiograms, Signal Average Electrocardiograms, Ambulatory Monitoring (Holter Scanning/Interpretation Event Loop Recorder), and physician-assisted Exercise Tolerance Testing (Stress Testing). The role involves preparing patients for ambulatory monitoring devices worn for 24 hours (Holter) or several weeks (Loop). The Technologist is also responsible for preparing patients for stress and tilt table testing, performing stress tests under the direct supervision of the Cardiologist. Additionally, the Registered Cardiology Technologist will be responsible for precepting/mentoring new learners in the department. Travel to other sites may be required.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 plus successful completion of a Cardiology Technology program or acceptable equivalent.
  • Current registration and good standing with the Canadian Society of Cardiology Technologists.
  • Current BLS (HCP) certification.
  • Recent clinical experience in an ECG Department.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in performing EKGs, Holter Monitors (includes scanning) and Stress Testing, ambulatory blood pressure monitors and assisting in Pacemaker/ICD clinics.
  • Strong sense of initiative and responsibility.
  • Ability to adapt to flexible workload and stressful situations.

Nice To Haves

  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred.
  • Currently enrolled in a Cardiology Technology program (if no qualified candidates meet the above qualifications, placement will be on the Unregistered Cardiology Technologist scale).
