Requirements

  • Up to six-months related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • BLS certification.
  • Must be registered as a Cardiac Sonographer with American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or Cardiac Sonography Credentialing International (CCI).

Responsibilities

  • Accurately performs ultrasound studies such as: Echocardiograms, Stress/Dobutamine Echocardiograms, and Transesophageal Echocardiograms.
  • Performs Holter Monitor scanning.
  • Safely and appropriately performs standard and special electrode placement and/or transducer usage for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
  • Proficient in performance of all diagnostic testing and procedures including: echocardiograms, cardiac doppler studies, transesophageal echocardiograms, stress/dobutamine stress echocardiograms, contrast imaging, Holter monitor application and scanning, and basic ECG.
  • Accurately completes at least 10 studies and appropriate documentation in an eight-hour shift.
  • Assists in training other technicians as directed by supervisor.
  • Demonstrates competency in cardiovascular echocardiography and is able to perform echocardiograms without supervision.
  • Must be able to recognize abnormal structure and correlate the information, with clinical history, into findings report.
  • Consults with ordering and/or reading provider and contribute professional knowledge.
