About The Position

Under the direction of the Director of Student Services, Principal, designee or a designated teacher, the Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) is responsible for the implementation of the treatment and/or behavior plan as designed by the Supervisor in collaboration with the IEP team. The RBT is responsible for attending all scheduled assignments pertaining to the students on their caseload and turning in all documents and data pertaining to the students.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma (GED) required.
  • Successful completion of a Teacher Assistant Training Program approved by the RI Department of Education (RIDE) and other requirements as promulgated by RIDE.
  • Must hold and maintain a current Registered Behavior Technician certification from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) or equivalent.
  • Must hold and maintain Certification in Crisis Intervention and Prevention (CPI).
  • Minimum of 3 (three) years or training or related experience with behavioral intervention strategies.
  • Oral communication skills at the level required for the position.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the responsibilities below as evidenced by educational and work-related experiences, previous employment, and the interview process.

Responsibilities

  • Implementation of the treatment and/or behavior plan as designed by the Supervisor in collaboration with the IEP team.
  • Attending all scheduled assignments pertaining to the students on their caseload.
  • Turning in all documents and data pertaining to the students.
  • Collaborating with school staff and the supervisor to develop behavioral interventions for students with disabilities.
  • Assisting students with all phases of activities on an individual and group basis throughout the day, under the direction of a teacher.
  • Assisting in the transport of students to and from buses to ensure safety and the boarding of the assigned buses.
  • Traveling as needed on transportation to and from school with students.
  • Providing input to the teacher regarding students’ behavior based on the data collected.
  • Assisting staff members in the supervision of students throughout the school environments to implement behavior plans.
  • Applying varying methods of behavior management designed to maximize student learning, under the direction of a teacher & supervisor.
  • Interacting effectively with students in individual and group situations.
  • Participating in the design and interpretation of Functional Behavior Analysis (FBA’s).
  • Collaborating with the teacher and supervisor to design and implement multi-faceted behavior interventions.
  • Understanding and working with the various support systems available in the community.
  • Understanding Special Education regulations including the Restraint regulations.
  • Maintaining confidentiality regarding staff and student information.
  • Performing other job-related duties as required or requested.
