About The Position

Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) Pay: $18–$22/hour Location: Columbus, OH No RBT certification? No problem. We provide training, supervision, and support to help qualified candidates earn their Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) credential. Build Skills. Create Independence. At Ability Matters, we help individuals with autism and developmental disabilities build independence, confidence, and meaningful lives in their communities. We are not a home health agency. We are a community inclusion organization. As a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), you'll work directly with our individuals, implementing behavior support strategies and teaching communication, social, adaptive, and independent living skills in real-world settings. This is a hands-on role where you'll see the impact of your work every day. Whether you're already certified or just getting started, we'll provide the training, mentorship, and support needed to grow your skills and advance your career.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred, high school diploma or GED minimum
  • Current RBT credential preferred, but not required. Qualified candidates without certification will receive training and support to obtain their RBT credential within 6 months of hire
  • Strong communication, problem solving, and adaptability skills
  • Valid Ohio driver's license and reliable transportation

Responsibilities

  • Deliver Direct Behavioral Services: Implement individualized behavior support and skill-building programs under the supervision of a BCBA or clinical leader.
  • Teach Meaningful Life Skills: Support communication, social development, emotional regulation, independence, and daily living skills.
  • Implement Positive Behavior Supports: Use evidence-based strategies to help individuals achieve goals while maintaining dignity, respect, and safety.
  • Collect Data & Monitor Progress: Track behavioral and skill development data to support individualized treatment and service planning.
  • Support Community Inclusion: Provide services in homes, schools, day programs, and community settings that promote participation and independence.
  • Collaborate with Teams & Families: Partner with supervisors, families, and interdisciplinary teams to support consistent, high-quality services.
