The Registered Architect will be responsible for developing phasing and scheduling plans for master plan execution, assisting campuses in preparing multi-year and biennial special R&M Programs, and conducting site visits to determine repair feasibility. This role involves designing, preparing plans and technical specifications, obtaining building permits, and stamping plans with an architect/engineer seal. The architect will develop project schedules, prepare construction plans and specifications, evaluate contractor proposals, inspect construction, and certify project completion. Additionally, the role includes preparing Educational Specifications, Complex Development Reports, developmental schedules, cost estimates, and environmental assessments. The architect will also prepare schematic floor plans, review construction plans for conformance with Educational Specifications, ensure adequacy of spaces and equipment, review designs for aesthetic value and efficiency, compile furniture and equipment needs, assist in problem-solving during construction, and prepare Capital Improvements Programs. The position serves as a liaison between consultants, contractors, and the University community, reviews system designs and specifications, manages new building and major renovation design and construction (projects over $5 million), oversees LEED requirements, and provides construction administration oversight. The architect will assist the Director with presentations, discuss project details for design decisions, advise contractors on NPDES and stormwater runoff, and manage multiple aspects of new construction including civil, electrical, mechanical, fire suppression, and structural design, ensuring the design intent is met within schedule and budget. The role requires understanding and managing all aspects of construction and communicating design and construction intent to stakeholders.
