About The Position

The Office of Judicial Administration is seeking a Regional Specialty Court Program Coordinator to support the development, implementation, and sustainability of the state’s specialty courts. This position will provide regional coordination, technical support, and direct assistance to local courts. The coordinator will also play a key role in supporting the specialty court data management system, the statewide peer mentor initiative, including recruitment, orientation, training, and oversight of mentor programs at the local level.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a four-year college or university with coursework in criminal justice, social work, psychology, public administration, or a related field.
  • At least three years of progressively responsible experience in specialty courts, social services, behavioral health, or court programs.
  • Knowledge of the treatment court model, including best practices, operations, and principles related to substance use disorders, mental health, and co-occurring treatment approaches.
  • Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams, facilitate team meetings and training sessions, and foster interagency collaboration.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking, report writing, and presentation delivery.
  • Ability to develop sound conclusions and recommendations based on evaluation of alternatives and program data.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, including discretion, confidentiality, and the ability to work with minimal supervision while aligning with statewide goals.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with judges, court staff, attorneys, treatment providers, supervision officers, law enforcement, and community partners.
  • Ability to understand and act on instructions, whether delivered verbally or in writing.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree or equivalent experience in court administration, behavioral science, or public policy.
  • Experience working in a specialty or treatment court team.
  • Experience with program evaluation, performance measurement, or grant compliance reporting.
  • Experience providing training or technical assistance in a court or behavioral health setting.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary coordinator for 2–4 specialty court programs within the assigned region, overseeing daily operations, team communication, staffing coordination, participant tracking, and scheduling.
  • Facilitate pre-court staffing and team meetings, ensuring effective interdisciplinary communication and adherence to the specialty court model.
  • Maintain program records and coordinate compliance tracking, including treatment progress, incentives, and sanctions in accordance with court policies.
  • Support judicial officers in monitoring participant compliance and program effectiveness through consistent documentation and reporting.
  • Assist local specialty court steering committees with program development, including planning, stakeholder engagement, and implementation of core components.
  • Oversee the region’s peer and veteran mentor program, including recruitment, screening, orientation, training, and monitoring of mentor-participant engagement.
  • Provide technical assistance and support to local specialty court coordinators, judges, and team members, promoting consistency with best practices and Kansas Supreme Court rules.
  • Assist in onboarding new specialty court team members, including coordinators, supervision staff, treatment providers, and mentors.
  • Compile and maintain statistical and programmatic data for performance monitoring, grant compliance, and quality improvement in their region.
  • Communicate regularly with the Statewide Specialty Court Program Manager to provide updates on program operations, regional activities, and emerging needs.
  • Travel regularly throughout the assigned region and attend statewide meetings, training, and conferences as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Statewide Specialty Court Program Manager.
