About The Position

Agricorp is seeking a Regional Specialist for the Eastern Ontario region with expertise in crops. This role involves providing senior technical expertise and consultation to Agricorp clients and staff. The Specialist will represent Agricorp across the Eastern Region and offer sector and commodity expertise provincially to the Regional Services team within the Program Delivery division. The Regional Specialist will provide specialized commodity knowledge to the Regional Services team, including technical expertise, coaching, mentoring, change management, and training to Adjusters for various program aspects. They will also provide specialized knowledge in grains & oilseeds, forage, cover crops, fruit, and vegetables to support inspections, investigations, and claim settlements. The role includes conducting or participating in inspections and audits, acting as a subject matter expert, supporting the Manager, Regional Services with local information and team goal setting, and participating in contingency planning.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Agriculture or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience in farming or in the agricultural industry with specialization in grains and oilseed crops, forage, cover crops, fruit and vegetables
  • Proven experience in coaching, mentoring, change management and training others
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with diverse stakeholders using influence and authority

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise, coaching, mentoring, change management and training to a team of Adjusters to support enrolment, underwriting, contract establishment, damage inspection, premium collection and claim adjudication/settlement
  • Provide highly specialized knowledge in grains & oilseeds, forage, cover crops, fruit and vegetables to support the inspection of crops/production, investigation and settlement of claims, and completion of audits
  • Conduct or participate in inspections and audits, including damage report investigations, seasonal crop inspections, yield claims, acreage and application of losses due to uninsured perils
  • Act as a subject matter expert on Grains & Oilseeds and Forage to support program and service delivery and assist in the development of new enhancements & programs
  • Support the Manager, Regional Services in providing local information to inform regional planning and reporting, participate in team goal setting, and help to communicate directions and goals to Adjusters
  • Participate in Contingency planning as required
