About The Position

Stantec is a global leader in alternative delivery solutions for complex biosolids projects, focusing on zero waste, renewable energy, the circular water economy, and mitigating Contaminants of Emerging Concern. The Regional Sector Leader (RSL) for Biosolids is a key leadership role responsible for directing biosolids work with technical rigor, innovation, and a vision for solving global challenges in biosolids and resource recovery. This role involves applying passion for technical excellence, leading and developing talent, pursuing strategic projects, and contributing to a collaborative leadership culture. The RSL will leverage industry knowledge to grow technical capabilities, support business development by engaging with key clients, create technical differentiators, and establish a strong industry presence through participation in conferences, publications, and external communications. The role is focused on expanding Stantec’s capacity to win and deliver biosolids work in the Pacific region (California and Hawaii). Reporting to the North America Biosolids Sector Leader, the RSL will translate the North American strategy into actionable initiatives for the Pacific geography, aligning projects and client needs with resources and technical capabilities.

Requirements

  • Strong technical skills and knowledge of existing and developing regulations within the biosolids practice.
  • Experienced and visible industry leader in delivering complex projects with a high degree of technical proficiency.
  • Ability to lead and inspire multi-disciplinary teams with a strong commitment to meeting goals and upholding Stantec’s values and policies.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Pacific region market and industry trends with established working relationships with pertinent organizations.
  • Strategic thinking regarding technologies, regulations, market, business, and economic issues impacting the sector.
  • Proven experience in client communications and technical proposal writing.
  • Excellent technical and business acumen.
  • Committed to Health, Safety and Environment.
  • Located in the Pacific region with ability to travel throughout North America.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Process, Chemical, Mechanical, Civil or Environmental Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • 15 years of directly relevant experience.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in California.

Responsibilities

  • Providing leadership to internal biosolids practitioners.
  • Reinforcing Stantec's external brand as a leader in biosolids design and delivery through industry participation, thought leadership, and client communication.
  • Identifying and supporting the win of strategic pursuits in collaboration with local Business Center Practice Leaders, Account Managers, and business developers.
  • Acting as a liaison between local/regional teams and the North American Sector Leader and practice community to leverage technical skills.
  • Regularly engaging with clients.
  • Actively participating in relevant industry associations.
  • Leveraging and developing understanding of industry drivers, market trends, and legislative requirements in the Pacific region to support and grow the biosolids design and delivery portfolio.
  • Identifying how technology changes affect clients, and working across business lines and project delivery.
  • Helping teams deliver complex projects with a focus on quality, risk management, and long-term value.
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with technology and delivery partners.
  • Fostering a biosolids practice across and beyond the region to share knowledge, best practices, and practical solutions.
  • Contributing to the North America Biosolids Sector to implement strategy and bring services from the broader Stantec organization to clients.
  • Helping recruit, retain, and inspire a team of biosolids practitioners with exceptional technical skills.
  • Engaging in the delivery of biosolids projects as a subject matter expert, leveraging expertise, industry best practices, and new technologies.
  • Working closely with sector leaders, regional growth teams, project developers, and the Stantec Institute for Applied Science, Technology, and Policy to leverage internal resources.
  • Consistently demonstrating a commitment to the Health and Safety culture within Stantec.
