About The Position

Bishop-Wisecarver® (BW) is seeking a Regional Sales Manager for its Great Lakes Region, which includes Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, West Virginia, and Western Pennsylvania. The company is a certified women-owned, U.S.-based manufacturer with 75 years of experience in engineering motion solutions for demanding applications. BW emphasizes a people-first, family culture and provides proven products and expert engineering. The ideal candidate will reside near a major airport and be comfortable with frequent regional travel, including regular overnight stays, to support customer visits, distributor development, project reviews, training, trade shows, and industry events. This home office-based role requires a self-directed, technically curious, competitive individual driven to build strong customer relationships through engineering knowledge, responsiveness, and solution-oriented thinking. The role involves driving territory growth, developing strategic customer relationships, expanding market share, and achieving sales objectives through a consultative, engineering-focused sales approach. Success will be measured by revenue growth, new business development, customer retention, distributor engagement, and converting opportunities into long-term partnerships. The Regional Sales Manager will assist engineers, OEMs, machine builders, system integrators, and automation solution providers in solving complex motion and mechanical design challenges by providing consultative engineering support and application-focused solutions. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys technical discussions, application engineering, territory development, and building long-term customer relationships within the automation and motion control industry. Candidates should be comfortable discussing mechanical systems, motion technologies, product performance, environmental constraints, and system integration with technically sophisticated customers, serving as a trusted technical resource for solutions in harsh, high-cycle, precision, washdown, or demanding industrial environments. The ability to understand customer engineering challenges, translate application needs into effective solutions, and communicate BW's technical and business value beyond price is crucial.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, Business, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in technical sales, sales engineering, application engineering, industrial automation, motion control, or a related industrial market.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop customer relationships and grow territory sales.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to understand technical applications and customer requirements.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to travel extensively throughout the assigned region, including frequent overnight travel.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel by air.
  • Must be able to work in the US without sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with linear motion, motion control, automation, robotics, machine design, or related technologies.
  • Experience working with OEMs, machine builders, system integrators, or industrial distributors.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems and territory management practices.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and industrial automation applications.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and executing territory growth strategies to achieve sales and profitability objectives.
  • Identifying, qualifying, and pursuing new business opportunities within assigned markets and accounts.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with OEMs, machine builders, integrators, distributors, and end users.
  • Conducting application reviews and providing technical guidance to customers throughout the sales process.
  • Collaborating with internal engineering, customer service, and operations teams to deliver successful customer outcomes.
  • Maintaining an active sales pipeline, forecasting opportunities, and utilizing HubSpot CRM to manage customer engagement.
  • Representing the company at trade shows, industry events, and customer meetings.
  • Supporting distributor development, training, and market expansion initiatives throughout the region.
