About The Position

Responsible for the direction, supervision and improvement of all functions and operations of the regional office, including establishing sales territories and goals for sales staff. Analyzes sales statistics, evaluates and recruits retailers and ensures retailer adherence to corporation policies and rules. Responsible for maintaining current knowledge of lottery programs, products, policies, and procedures. Responsible for training, supervising, motivating, and monitoring the performance of regional staff. Will establish and supervise the development, monitoring, and reporting of regional and/or departmental goals. Responsible for building and sustaining relationships with existing customers/retailers and leading the sales team in targeting and pursuing business opportunities. Responsible for determining the effectiveness with which functions, responsibilities, and assignments are being met and for determining the effectiveness with which the territory is performing. Responsible for studying, analyzing, and reporting on operational issues. Oversees prize payment process at regional office, ensuring all LLC operational procedures are followed. Responsible for oversight of all regional office records, correspondence; licensing information and other records as needed. Coordinates activities with other LLC departments as required to meet operational and organizational mission and goals. Remains current on new products, regional activities, and industry trends. Ability to efficiently use the technology provided by LLC. Communicates with people outside the organization, representing the LLC to customers, the public, the government, and other external sources. Responsible for establishing and maintaining a critical thinking environment that aligns with the mission, vision, and values of the corporation. Performs other duties within the scope of job assignment as required or requested by supervisor. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of principles and practices of product marketing and retail sales, inventory and financial records
  • Thorough knowledge of lottery laws and procedures as they relate to the selling of state lottery products
  • Ability to prepare inventory records, cash reports, and other procedural reports, utilizing various software programs
  • Ability to understand and analyze information and data, and to evaluate and formulate an appropriate course of action
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing
  • Ability to plan, organize and direct the work of others
  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in business or related field, with minimum of three to five years experience in sales management, OR an equivalent combination of education/experience
  • Knowledge of principles, practices and techniques of marketing and retail operations
  • Experience in the implementation of marketing and merchandising programs, new products introduction and territory management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in using word processing and spreadsheet software to analyze data
  • Proven ability to implement critical thinking skills
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Must possess valid Louisiana driver's license
