About The Position

Benefit Cosmetics is seeking a Regional Sales Manager (RSM) to drive retail sales and service results, and to manage, motivate, and develop sales teams. The RSM will collaborate with Regional Sales Managers, Retail Account Managers, and key retail partners across their assigned territories to boost business on both Regional and National levels. Requirements

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of retail management experience in the retail beauty environment or similar.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • This position requires the final candidate to successfully pass an E-Verify check.
  • State board aesthetician or cosmetology license preferred, but not required, to better coach and train AEs.
  • Has built, budgeted, and achieved retail sell-thru sales goals.
  • Has successfully identified, recruited, supervised, motivated, developed, and promoted Account Managers, Aestheticians, and Freelancers.
  • Strong proven training and leadership skills, including selling and customer service.
  • Has obtained the respect of staff and peers through performance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop seasonal promotional plans by account with the Sales Director.
  • Identify and strategize plans to achieve annual sales goals within the territory.
  • Implement retail sales goals by account and identify areas of strength and weakness.
  • Formulate action plans with the Retail Account Manager (RAM) team to address point-of-sale issues with specific volume goals and timelines.
  • Administer and track all budgets within the area, allocating as business dictates.
  • Monitor and control territory-related expenses (e.g., T&E, freelance) according to budget.
  • Develop relationships and partnerships at the counter and store management levels.
  • Monitor and improve space and location in stores, submitting updated floor plans seasonally after confirming space with the Sales Director.
  • Analyze seasonal retail performance of all product classes for each account (chain, door, market).
  • Continuously evaluate cosmetic/fragrance department trends and rankings, adjusting strategies to increase Benefit's rank.
  • Report sell-thru feedback on promotional and key items.
  • Evaluate co-op and visual weeks' business for positive return on investment.
  • Monitor Yelp and Google ratings to ensure an average of 4.0 or higher.
  • Build and develop a professional RAM and Aesthetician (AE) team in the assigned territory, focusing on maximizing current potential and future opportunities.
  • Collaborate with RAMs to build relationships with and recruit AE talent from Cosmetology Schools for a continuous talent pipeline.
  • Establish a positive and challenging environment to ensure team success.
  • Establish a professional, ongoing business rapport with the retail community.
  • Communicate regularly with Benefit management on all issues, problems, concerns, and opportunities.
  • Manage all company expenses (personal and team) within T&E policy parameters.
  • Maintain a succession pool of talent to fill open positions by area.
  • Ensure the overall appearance of counters meets high standards and reflects the Benefit culture.
  • Keep in-store visuals current and maintain tidy housekeeping at all times, enforcing standards with counter personnel.
  • Ensure permanent and promotional displays are presentable, accessible, and serviceable.
  • Maintain and improve space and location for all points of sale, in conjunction with the Sales Director and adhering to corporate guidelines.
  • Utilize Online Booking tools to maximize schedules and CRM data.
  • Allocate spending resources to achieve maximum retail sales, including collateral, freelance personnel, etc.
  • Monitor the usage of all assigned collateral.
  • Schedule and execute in-store events (local and corporate).
  • Ensure receipt of all necessary collateral and merchandising materials for in-store events.
  • Thoroughly brief RAMs and store personnel on in-store events, new products, etc.
  • Establish realistic retail sales goals for products and services.
  • Ensure stores and counters are properly merchandised for maximum visual exposure according to Visual Merchandising (VM) directives.
  • Execute new door openings and additions of new business classes with corporate account personnel.
  • Identify prospective new doors within a chain.
  • Identify doors for discontinuance.
  • Ensure proper order flow and consistent inventory levels at each door to achieve retail sales goals.
  • Maintain ongoing dialogue with Sales Director, Store Management, and corporate Account Directors/VPs on stock issues.
  • Provide feedback to Sales Director, Account Directors/VPs, and Marketing teams on seasonal new products and Launch Programs.
  • Develop plans to ensure sell-thru and prime positioning at the counter, adhering to VM directives.
  • Maintain territory AE staffing to maximize service and retail sales.
  • Identify spending reductions as a percentage of sales, communicating with the Sales Director for new hire additions and replacements.
  • Review and update budgeting needs with the Sales Director, keeping ROI in line with company guidelines.
  • Clearly communicate in a timely and consistent manner with SVP, Sales Director, Sr. RAMs, RAMs, and San Francisco corporate office personnel on all responsibilities.
