In Abbott’s Electrophysiology (EP) business, we’re advancing the treatment of heart disease through breakthrough medical technologies in atrial fibrillation, allowing people to restore their health and get on with their lives. This role is responsible for the sale of products in a defined geographical district and for the development and execution of sales plans, targets and budgets within the overall regional and business unit sales strategy. The Regional Sales Director has primary management responsibility, directly or through subordinates, for directing the EP sales of Abbott products and/or services in a specified region or other major geographical area. They exercise direct supervision over Company sales force personnel. This role recommends, interprets and implements corporate, division or organizationally specific policies and procedures to accomplish assignments and resolves a broad range of issues and problems, ensuring employee compliance with such policies, practices and procedures. The Regional Sales Director sets goals, ensures they are met, and is responsible for continuous process improvement, assuring that the quality of services meets internal and external customer requirements. They exercise judgment in planning and organizing work, monitor performance and report status, using best business practices to ensure success in areas of responsibility. This role may be responsible for processes across Regional or organizational lines. The Regional Sales Director ensures operational practices across the district run smoothly, meet any budget and sales goals, and are complying with any marketing campaigns and promotions. They create and maintain budgets for the district, and coordinate with and report to senior management in the company. This role is responsible for supporting sales representatives and key account colleagues in the management of key client relationships and in the negotiation of contracts with key customers. The Regional Sales Director is responsible for building district sales capability and for the overall management and motivation of the district sales team. They are responsible for hiring and retaining a diverse, highly qualified staff and for providing career coaching, growth and personal development. This includes the development of staff through critiquing, instructing, mentoring, evaluating, and coaching. The Regional Sales Director is accountable for the performance of subordinates or the work output of managed subcontractors. They maintain a safe working environment and a strong customer focus. This role prepares regional sales forecasts and participates in the determination of market potential and in the preparation of EP sales expense estimates for the region. They plan and manage the EP sales effort for the assigned region, maintaining contact with major accounts within the assigned region, assisting sales representatives with maintaining relationships and negotiating and closing deals. The Regional Sales Director participates in the development of marketing policy, recommending product and product line revisions as well as pricing changes. They assist sales support/marketing staff members in activities such as sales promotion, training, and market research in planning and executing special projects.
