The Regional Sales Director is a first-line commercial leader responsible for building, leading, and developing a high-performing field team focused on post-bariatric hypoglycemia (PBH). This opportunity includes building and leading a team of highly motivated and accountable Territory Business Managers. Regional Sales Directors will work closely with their teams to advance PBH disease-state education and deepen understanding of the diagnosis and referral journey. This leader will execute national strategy into a focused regional plan and establish clear priorities. Success requires strong clinical and business acumen, disciplined execution, and the ability to navigate the complex diagnosis, referral, treatment, reimbursement, and patient-support pathways associated with a rare metabolic condition. This opportunity is based in New England and incumbents for this role should reside within the region.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive pharmaceutical or biotechnology commercial experience, including at least 3 years of successful field sales leadership and people management; equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
  • Demonstrated success in rare disease, endocrinology, metabolic disease, or another specialty market involving complex diagnosis, referral, treatment, reimbursement, and patient-support pathways.
  • Proven record of recruiting and developing talent, leading through change, setting high standards, and delivering results through others in a compliant manner.
  • Ability to translate enterprise and brand priorities into clear regional and territory plans, measurable objectives, and consistent field execution.
  • Strong business and analytical acumen, including experience using CRM, market, account, and performance data for opportunity assessment, resource allocation, and decision-making.
  • Track record of effective matrix leadership with Marketing, Medical Affairs, Market Access, Patient Services, Commercial Operations, Training, and Compliance partners.
  • Excellent communication, coaching, influencing, and relationship-management skills, with the judgment and adaptability to operate in an evolving pre-launch and launch environment.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet the travel requirements of the role.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building or scaling a field team and leading launch-readiness or product-launch execution in a rare disease or specialty market.
  • Knowledge of bariatric surgery care pathways, endocrinology, hypoglycemia, specialty pharmacy, reimbursement, and patient-support services.
  • Established understanding of the healthcare landscape, including priority health systems, integrated delivery networks, and referral networks.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, hire, onboard, lead, coach, and retain a high-performing team of field sales professionals; establish clear expectations, individualized development plans, and succession readiness.
  • Own the regional business plan, translating PBH brand priorities into territory strategies, account plans, customer-engagement objectives, resource allocation, and measurable standards of execution.
  • Establish a disciplined operating rhythm that includes field coaching, business reviews, performance tracking, opportunity planning, and timely course correction to ensure performance objectives are met or exceeded.
  • Use CRM data, market intelligence, account insights, referral-network dynamics, and leading indicators to identify opportunities and risks, prioritize resources, and improve regional performance.
  • Spend substantial time in the field observing customer engagement and providing timely, behavior-based coaching on clinical dialogue, pre-call planning, account strategy, reimbursement, patient-support resources, and execution excellence.
  • Set clear performance expectations, recognize strong performance, and address capability or execution gaps through direct feedback, documented development actions, and appropriate performance management.
  • Develop productive relationships with priority health systems, bariatric programs, endocrinology and metabolic care teams, key experts, and other stakeholders involved in PBH diagnosis, referral, treatment, access, and patient support.
  • Manage the regional budget and other company resources responsibly, ensuring regional investments align with strategic priorities and company policies.
  • Model Amylyx values and maintain the highest standards of ethics, compliance, accountability, inclusion, and respect for patients and caregivers.

  • The pay range posted below represents our good faith estimate of compensation for this role, based on market data and internal benchmarks. The final offer may vary depending on a candidate’s experience, skills, and qualifications, as well as considerations of internal equity. Estimated Pay Range $225,000 - $253,000 USD
