About The Position
The Regional Safety Manager leads safety, health, and environmental programs across Power operations in the Northwest region, including Colorado, Washington, Idaho, Oregon, and other assigned locations. This role partners with operations leaders, project teams, and subcontractors to ensure regulatory compliance, drive continuous improvement, support project planning and execution, strengthen Power's safety culture, and serve as a strategic safety advisor to operational leadership.
Requirements
- 5+ years of construction safety experience.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety management systems, and construction safety practices.
- Experience conducting incident investigations and root cause analyses.
- Strong leadership, communication, coaching, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work independently and support geographically dispersed teams.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, Environmental Health, Construction Management, Industrial Hygiene, or related field preferred.
- Experience supporting large commercial or heavy construction projects preferred.
- Experience with VPP, OSHA Strategic Partnerships, or similar programs preferred.
- CSP, ASP, CHST, OHST, OSHA 500/510, OSHA 30-Hour Construction, First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor, and/or 40-Hour HAZWOPER.
Responsibilities
- Manage VPP, Site-Based Partnership, and other compliance programs, including applications, implementation, documentation, and ongoing maintenance requirements.
- Serve as the primary liaison with OSHA Consultation Services, state safety agencies, and other regulatory organizations while supporting project teams and subcontractors.
- Develop, implement, and maintain project-specific safety plans.
- Support environmental compliance requirements, including SWPPP, EPA, and applicable state and local regulations.
- Support insurance compliance programs, including GL CCIP and future wrap-up insurance initiatives.
- Conduct project visits, safety observations, and leadership safety walks to assess performance, verify compliance, and promote best practices.
- Review subcontractor safety documentation (SSSPs, JHAs, SDSs, pre-task plans, and other required documentation).
- Participate in project meetings and evaluate risks to develop mitigation strategies.
- Deliver and coordinate safety training programs, including OSHA 30-Hour, First Aid/CPR, and Power safety training.
- Identify training needs and promote a coaching culture that reinforces safety expectations.
- Lead and support incident investigations, including root cause analysis, corrective actions, reporting, and follow-up verification.
- Analyze safety metrics and trends to identify improvement opportunities and recommend program enhancements.
- Collaborate with project leadership to implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Support departmental initiatives, business planning, and strategic safety projects.
- Develop safety resources and build industry relationships to identify best practices.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to operational leadership on safety, compliance, and risk management.
- Support crisis management, emergency response planning, drills, and project emergency procedures.
