Position Summary: The Regional Safety Manager is responsible for the overall safety and regulatory compliance of the fleet by overseeing safety programs; ensuring compliance with FMCSA, DOT, OSHA, and other applicable regulations; monitoring key safety performance metrics; developing and implementing safety initiatives; and driving corrective action plans. This position requires extensive collaboration with operations management and fleet drivers to promote a culture of safety and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Proficiency with computer software and industry-specific operational systems.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, solve problems, and apply critical thinking when making decisions.
  • Demonstrated experience in safety leadership.
  • Demonstrated experience in transportation, logistics, or warehousing.

Nice To Haves

  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
  • Experience working with external regulatory agencies, including DOT and FMCSA.

Responsibilities

  • Provides courteous, professional, and responsive service to internal team members and external customers by responding promptly and efficiently to inquiries and requests.
  • Maintains and facilitates driver qualifications, training, the drug and alcohol program, ELD/HOS compliance, onboard camera systems, and other safety programs in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Ensures carrier compliance with all DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and other applicable federal and state regulations.
  • Owns all safety and regulatory compliance programs and performance goals for the region.
  • Maintains driver qualification files and records, including CDLs, medical certificates, MVRs, PSP reports, and Hazmat documentation.
  • Manages the Federal Drug and Alcohol Testing Program.
  • Tracks driver log exceptions and serves as the primary point of contact for compliance-related issues.
  • Provides oversight on DOT inspections and citation processing to ensure compliance.
  • Identifies potential compliance risks and partners with management to implement corrective actions.
  • Tracks accidents and injuries, identifies trends, and develops preventive programs and corrective actions.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for clients regarding safety matters.
  • Keeps current on regulatory changes and communicates updates to management accordingly.
  • Communicates core safety principles and accident prevention practices to drivers both in the workplace and over the road.
  • Responsible for operational contributions to maximize profitability, cost control and overall improve efficiencies. Identify, evaluate and build new business opportunities; provide guidance on operational changes required to support these opportunities.
  • Protects company assets and confidential information in accordance with company policies and procedures, including candidate, team member, and proprietary company information.
