About The Position

The Regional Safety Manager is responsible for implementing safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations. This role involves monitoring the effectiveness of the safety management system, leading safety personnel, and developing training programs for employees on work site safety practices. The manager will inspect facilities for hazards, ensure appropriate processes for incident reporting and investigation, and compile required accident reports. Additionally, the role involves producing safety performance reports, reviewing trends to prevent recurrence, and reporting on safety performance to management teams and the Corporate Safety Director.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Engineering or related degree or equivalent work experience is required
  • 10-20 years of general construction experience.
  • OSHA 30 hour training required

Responsibilities

  • Implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.
  • Monitors effectiveness of the safety management system and progress against the Structure Tone safety Performance Standards.
  • Leads and provides functional management for safety personnel.
  • Plans and implements programs to train managers and employees in work site safety practices, fire prevention, and correct handling techniques for chemicals, toxins, equipment, and other materials.
  • Inspects organization facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, determines corrective or preventative measures where indicated and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.
  • Ensures that there are appropriate processes in place for promptly alerting the business and STO to significant accidents and incidents.
  • Investigates accidents and incidents where appropriate and ensures that the findings are reported.
  • Compiles and submits accident reports required by regulatory agencies.
  • Produces safety management reports monthly, quarterly and annually on safety performance.
  • Reviews accident and incident reports and investigation reports, identifies any trends and ensures that there is an appropriate response to prevent future recurrence.
  • Regularly meets with safety personnel to monitor and review management of the function.
  • Reports on safety performance for the business unit at management team meetings.
  • Consults and liaises with Corporate Safety Director on the management of safety in the division/business unit.
