Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Logistics, Procurement, Finance, or a related field required; Master's degree preferred.
  • 8+ years of progressive procurement, sourcing, supply chain, transportation, or logistics experience, including leadership responsibilities.
  • Proven success leading multi-country procurement organizations and managing strategic supplier relationships.
  • Strong experience negotiating transportation, logistics, carrier, fleet, or operational service agreements.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive cost savings, supplier performance improvements, and procurement transformation initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of carrier management, transportation procurement, sourcing strategies, contract management, and supplier governance.
  • Experience leading cross-functional projects and influencing senior stakeholders in a matrixed environment.
  • Strong financial acumen with the ability to evaluate business cases, develop strategic recommendations, and manage procurement performance metrics.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and executive stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, develop talent, and build high-performing organizations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, procurement systems, and reporting tools.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as business needs require.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the Ground & Rail procurement strategy across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, ensuring alignment with regional and global business objectives.
  • Lead all carrier sourcing, procurement, negotiation, and supplier management activities, driving optimal service, capacity, and cost outcomes.
  • Manage strategic supplier relationships and establish governance processes, including supplier scorecards, performance reviews, business reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve procurement effectiveness, supplier performance, network efficiency, and profitability.
  • Partner with the VP, Network Enablement and senior leadership team to support strategic initiatives, growth plans, network optimization efforts, and operational transformations.
  • Lead regional procurement projects, including sourcing events, RFPs, contract negotiations, fleet and capacity strategies, and procurement transformation initiatives.
  • Establish procurement KPIs, dashboards, and reporting tools that provide visibility into supplier performance, savings, capacity management, risk mitigation, and procurement effectiveness.
  • Oversee procurement processes and ensure compliance with company policies, governance standards, contractual obligations, and regulatory requirements.
  • Drive cross-border procurement collaboration and standardization across Mexico, Canada, and the United States while leveraging regional scale and buying power.
  • Lead risk management efforts related to carrier capacity, supplier reliability, service continuity, regulatory changes, and market fluctuations.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Finance, Commercial, HR, Safety, Network, and Technology teams to ensure procurement strategies support overall business goals.
  • Identify and implement digital procurement solutions, automation opportunities, and process enhancements that improve decision-making and operational agility.
  • Build, develop, and mentor a high-performing procurement team, fostering accountability, engagement, and professional growth.
  • Represent Procurement in executive-level business reviews, strategic planning discussions, and customer-facing engagements when required.
