About The Position

The Simplot Company is a diverse, privately held global food and agriculture company headquartered in Boise, Idaho. We are a true farm-to-table company with an integrated portfolio including food processing and food brands, phosphate mining, fertilizer manufacturing, farming, ranching and cattle production, and other enterprises related to agriculture. This position is an essential part of the Pasco and Othello plant management team in support of the strategic and operational goals of the food manufacturing facility. The position is responsible for a variety of financial, accounting and reporting functions including, but not limited to general ledger, accounts payable, tax compliance, establishing standard costs, preparation and reporting of operating costs, purchasing, and budgeting. The role will also be a resource for other facilities and will be required to travel in order to assist other accounting teams with onboarding and training, as well as address other issues as they occur.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 8+ years of progressive finance/accounting experience
  • Manufacturing or plant finance experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with cost accounting and inventory management required
  • Prior leadership experience managing or mentoring a team
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Ability to translate financial data into actionable operational insight
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills across functions
  • Experience with ERP systems (JD Edwards preferred) and data tools

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree, CPA, or CMA is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary finance business partner to plant leadership, providing insights to improve cost, efficiency, and profitability
  • Lead all plant finance activities, including cost accounting, inventory control, variance analysis, and monthly close
  • Manage and develop the accounting team; drive accountability, process improvement, and standardization
  • Own standard cost setting and updates, including analysis of labor, overhead, and material drivers
  • Deliver weekly and monthly variance analysis, clearly communicating drivers and actionable insights
  • Lead annual budgeting and forecasting processes, aligning with operational and strategic plans
  • Strengthen internal controls and compliance with GAAP and company policies
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (Operations, Procurement, Supply Chain) to drive performance improvements
  • Support system, process, and reporting improvements (ERP/JDE experience preferred)
  • Participate in special projects and broader network initiatives, including training and onboarding support
