About The Position

Universal Industrial Gases (UIG), a subsidiary of Nucor, is seeking a Regional Operations Manager for the SE Region. This role oversees production, quality control, personnel, and safety across multiple production sites within the region. The position requires extensive travel (50-75%) within the region, occasional trips to the corporate office in Bethlehem, PA, and vendor/customer facilities. The role also involves 24/7 on-call responsibility. The manager will provide direct leadership to Plant Managers and indirect leadership to Assistant Plant Managers, I&E Specialists, and Plant Operators. Key focuses include promoting a safe work environment, developing talent, fostering an inclusive culture, ensuring compliance with regulations, driving continuous improvement, managing operational performance, and maintaining FDA compliance in a cGMP environment.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of leadership experience
  • 5 years of ASU experience
  • Previous experience with building high performance teams
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and operational best practices
  • Experience with various software systems used at an ASU
  • A general understanding of and experience with instrumentation, electrical, and control systems
  • Solid business acumen with an understanding of the general accounting techniques and financial implications
  • Willingness to travel 50-75% of the time
  • Ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards

Nice To Haves

  • Engineering degree (Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical preferred)
  • Experience with commissioning/start-up activities
  • Certified Six Sigma Green Belt
  • Auditing experience
  • Leading multiple sites/locations

Responsibilities

  • Oversee production, quality control, personnel, and safety at all production sites within the specified region.
  • Provide direct leadership to Plant Managers and indirect leadership to Assistant Plant Managers, I&E Specialists, and Plant Operators.
  • Ensure safety is a core value by promoting a safe work environment and safe work practices through leading by example.

  • Maintain strict compliance with all safety, health, environmental, and quality regulations.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across operations.
  • Manage production rates, qualify parameters, on-stream performance, and efficiency at supporting facilities.
  • Manage FDA compliance programs to ensure that plants are operated and maintained in a cGMP compliant atmosphere.
