About The Position

The University of Notre Dame is seeking a Regional Network Director for the Notre Dame Ethics Initiative (ND-EI) and the Institute for Ethics and the Common Good (ECG) to be based in Washington, DC. This role is crucial for advancing a major strategic priority focused on applied and virtue ethics, including AI ethics and the love ethic. The Director will build high-impact programs to assist policymakers, public servants, faith communities, non-profits, and education leaders in addressing ethically complex issues. This position involves leading a network-building effort to elevate Notre Dame's influence in national conversations on technology, policy, and the common good. The Notre Dame Ethics Initiative aims to establish Notre Dame as a premier university for research in ethics, offering training for future ethicists and ethical leaders, and guiding public understanding of significant ethical issues. The Institute for Ethics and the Common Good serves as the administrative hub for this initiative, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration. The Regional Network Director, DC (RNDDC) will design, lead, and sustain Notre Dame’s strategy for building a vibrant, policy-engaged network across Washington, DC, and key national corridors of influence. This role requires sophisticated strategic leadership to advance the DELTA framework within various contexts, including policy, regulatory, educational, ecclesial, and civic settings. The position aims to shape national conversations, inform discourse, and cultivate long-term institutional influence, positioning Notre Dame as a trusted, non-partisan voice at the intersection of ethics, technology, faith, and public life. The Director will engage a wide range of stakeholders in conversations about humanity in the age of AI.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree (5 years) or advanced certification beyond Bachelor’s
  • 5 to 6 years relevant experience
  • Strong understanding of public policy, governance, and the societal impact of technology, particularly artificial intelligence.
  • Advanced degree or equivalent professional experience (5–7 years), preferably in public policy, law, government relations, technology, education or other relevant fields.
  • Demonstrated experience providing strategic leadership in complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
  • Experience engaging policymakers, government officials, or policy institutions, with the ability to influence conversations and shape agendas.
  • Significant experience in network-building and convening diverse stakeholders, particularly in policy or civic contexts.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and facilitation skills across ideological and professional differences.
  • Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, high-stakes environments with competing priorities.
  • Strong independent work ethic with a collaborative mindset.
  • Willingness to travel regularly and operate in a hybrid, high-flexibility work environment.
  • Must reside in the Washington, DC area.
