About The Position

The Outside Sales team at DoorDash, founded in 2013, serves as the company's direct interface with merchant partners. This locally-based team cultivates strong relationships with key local and regional restaurants within assigned markets. As the primary revenue-generating division, it drives the expansion of SMB partnerships, enhancing operational efficiency, accelerating consumer growth, and improving profitability. This particular role is a field sales opportunity, requiring the individual to reside in or near the specified cities. As a Regional Merchant Lead (Outside Sales Representative), the incumbent will manage the entire sales process for onboarding new restaurant partners to DoorDash. This is a fast-paced, transactional sales position involving prospecting, pitching, negotiating, and closing deals with local and regional merchants across a designated market. The role involves direct engagement with restaurant owners, including in-person visits, conducting presentations, and fostering local relationships. Responsibilities include introducing DoorDash's various offerings, negotiating revenue share agreements, selling multi-product solutions, and demonstrating how a partnership with DoorDash can boost their business. This field sales role necessitates regional travel, with over 50% of time spent in-field meeting merchants (typically 2-3 days per week). There is also flexibility to work remotely or from a DoorDash office. Additionally, travel for in-person collaboration, such as training, offsites, and team-building events, will be required as needed.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in a closing sales role, preferably in an outside sales or field-forward environment
  • The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, transaction sales cycle – typically closing deals within days
  • Consistently exceeded KPIs and sales target through disciplined activity and strong execution
  • Experience selling multi-product solutions and tailoring your pitch to each merchant
  • Approach challenges from the fundamentals - clear discovery, strong communication, and merchant-first thinking
  • Demonstrated creative and resourceful outreach tactics to open doors and engage with prospects
  • Technical proficiency with CRM and sales tools (Salesforce, Outreach, Chorus, Google Apps)

Responsibilities

  • Own the full sales cycle for bringing new restaurant partners onto DoorDash
  • Prospect, pitch, negotiate, and close deals with local and regional merchants across your assigned market
  • Meet with restaurant owners – walking into businesses, running pitches, and building strong local relationships
  • Introduce restaurant owners to DoorDash’s suite of offerings
  • Negotiate revenue share agreements
  • Sell multi-product solutions
  • Help merchants understand how partnering with DoorDash will grow their business
  • Share on-the-ground insights with sales leadership and operations team
  • Mentor teammates on how to be the best version of themselves after establishing yourself in the role
  • Travel into different markets and meet with restaurant owners (hybrid role with up to 50% travel)
