About The Position

VIPcare is seeking a Regional Medical Assistant (MA) Float to provide clinical and administrative support across multiple clinic locations, specializing in primary care for patients 65+. The role focuses on delivering safe, high-quality, patient-centered care within a value-based care model that prioritizes preventive care for Medicare Advantage patients. The MA Float will travel within their region, supporting providers and ensuring a positive patient experience at every clinic.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred (CMA, RMA, NCMA, CCMA, or equivalent certification).
  • 1+ year(s) of experience as a Medical Assistant in a physician practice, outpatient, or ambulatory care setting preferred.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification required or obtained within organizational guidelines.
  • IV Therapy certification preferred, where permitted by state regulations.
  • Phlebotomy experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and clinical office procedures.
  • Working knowledge of common medications and disease processes affecting the patient population served.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA, OSHA, infection prevention, and CLIA regulations.
  • Knowledge of medical coding principles preferred.
  • Experience using electronic medical records (EMRs).
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides).
  • Excellent customer service and telephone etiquette.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and time-management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with patients, providers, health plans, and internal and external partners.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative, team-oriented approach.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome patients and prepare them for provider examinations by obtaining and documenting patient history, chief complaint, current medications, allergies, medical history, surgical history, family history, social history, preventive care information, and other relevant clinical information in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Measure, document, and report vital signs and other clinical observations.
  • Prepare patients and examination rooms for provider visits.
  • Assist providers during examinations, treatments, and in-office procedures.
  • Explain provider instructions, treatment plans, medications, and follow-up care to patients as directed.
  • Provide compassionate, professional service that promotes a positive patient experience.
  • Administer oral and injectable medications, immunizations, and treatments as directed by the provider and permitted by state regulations.
  • Assist with wound care, dressing changes, bandaging, irrigation of eyes and ears, and other clinical procedures.
  • Initiate and monitor IV infusions when appropriately trained and permitted by state regulations.
  • Perform phlebotomy and prepare specimens for laboratory testing.
  • Perform CLIA-waived laboratory testing in accordance with established procedures.
  • Conduct in-office diagnostic testing, including EKGs, vision screenings, pulse oximetry, peak flow testing, oxygen administration, inhalation treatments, and spirometry.
  • Perform PT/INR testing using approved equipment and glucose testing using a glucometer.
  • Complete laboratory quality controls and maintain required testing logs.
  • Clean, disinfect, and sterilize reusable instruments and properly dispose of contaminated materials in accordance with infection prevention standards.
  • Accurately document patient encounters, treatments, diagnostic results, procedures, supplies utilized, and telephone encounters within the EMR.
  • Complete outbound and inbound patient communications, including appointment reminders, medication reminders, Transitional Care Management (TCM), preventive care outreach, and support for Annual Wellness Visits (AWVs).
  • Assist in patient outreach, scheduling of preventive screenings, and documentation of completed services.
  • Perform care coordination activities.
  • Maintain patient medical records in accordance with organizational policies and HIPAA requirements.
  • Professionally manage front office responsibilities, including answering calls, greeting patients, scheduling appointments, patient registration, processing referrals, prescription refill coordination, and routing inquiries.
  • Monitor inventory levels of medical supplies, pharmaceuticals, and disposable clinical items, and assist with ordering as needed.
  • Assist with maintaining office and clinical supply inventories.
  • Support onboarding and training of new team members as assigned.
  • Collaborate with providers, clinical staff, and front office personnel to ensure efficient clinic operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Assist in onboarding and training new team members across assigned clinic locations.
  • Travel within the assigned region to provide clinical support across multiple VIPcare clinic locations; regional travel is expected approximately 85% of the time.
  • Adapt quickly to varying clinic workflows, team dynamics, and operational needs across locations while maintaining consistent patient care standards.
