At Excell, we're seeking a strategic, results-driven leader to oversee our Upper Midwest Region, encompassing approximately 600-1,000 retail locations across multiple states. The Regional Manager is responsible for the strategic leadership, operational oversight, and execution of all merchandising activities within the Upper Midwest Region. The region typically consists of 3-4 districts and approximately 600-1,000 stores. The successful candidate will drive sales growth, profitability, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence while leading a team of merchandising professionals. This role requires a balance of strategic thinking, analytical decision-making, people leadership, and hands-on field engagement. The Upper Midwest Region currently includes: North Dakota South Dakota Nebraska Minnesota Iowa Wisconsin Illinois Kentucky Indiana Ohio Region responsibilities may evolve based on business needs. This is a highly visible field leadership role requiring travel throughout the region. Travel expenses are fully covered, and candidates should expect approximately 2-3 overnight stays per week.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of high-level retail leadership experience such as Regional Manager, District Manager, or equivalent, preferably in a “big box” retail environment.
  • Extensive retail merchandising experience and expertise.
  • Demonstrated success leading large teams and multi-unit operations.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience interpreting business metrics and sales trends.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and technology platforms, including laptops and tablets.
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to travel extensively throughout the region.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and oversee regional merchandising strategies aligned with company objectives.
  • Manage the region's overall business performance, including stores, representatives, third-party merchandising partnerships, and unique market strategies.
  • Identify opportunities to increase sales, improve profitability, enhance customer experience, and strengthen store partnerships.
  • Analyze sales performance, trends, and operational metrics to drive informed business decisions.
  • Provide strategic insights and recommendations to company leadership regarding growth opportunities and market trends.
  • Champion innovative merchandising strategies and operational improvements.
  • Lead high-impact initiatives focused on business growth, operational efficiencies, shrink reduction, store partnership enhancement, and field execution improvements.
  • Serve as a key driver of organizational change, helping teams successfully navigate growth and evolving business needs.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to implement scalable solutions across the organization.
  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of merchandising professionals across multiple states.
  • Recruit, hire, develop, and retain top talent.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, recognition, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct regular field visits to coach team members, strengthen relationships, and support professional growth.
  • Monitor performance metrics and develop action plans that drive individual and team success.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with store leadership and business partners.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure mutual success and profitable outcomes.
  • Communicate partnership results and business opportunities to senior leadership.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and representative of the company throughout the region.
