About The Position

The Regional Manager, Health (Area 5 and 7) position is responsible for developing, leading, and growing the Healthy Community initiative within their specified region. This role coordinates fitness, health, and wellness programs for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) to improve health outcomes. The manager will establish relationships with various community centers, create health curriculum, monitor program performance, and report on outcomes. This position also involves managing budgets, collaborating with other departments, processing forms, maintaining databases, and establishing partnerships with regional health organizations. Additionally, the role includes recruiting health professionals, volunteers, and interns, procuring necessary supplies, and managing relationships with Health Messengers.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Health Science, Healthcare Management, or similar field required
At least two (2) years’ experience in health, non-profit, community outreach or a related field
Excellent written and presentation skills
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Strong computer skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks and demonstrate efficient time management skills
Have own reliable transportation, good driving history, and valid FL driver’s license
Regular attendance required

Responsibilities

Develop, lead, and grow the Healthy Community initiative in specified region under the direction of Special Olympics Florida Director, Health and Fitness.
Coordinate fitness, health, and wellness programs for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) as a means to improve health outcomes.
Establish relationships with adult day training centers, schools, and recreation centers within region by offering a variety of health and fitness programs and HA screenings.
Create or oversee the creation of new and unique health curriculum and initiatives based upon needs of IDD population
Monitor operational performance, document outcomes, and adjust programs based on results
Deliver progress through monthly, quarterly, annual, and board reports.
Prepare a variety of written reports, correspondence, and content for collateral material, social media, grant reports and evaluations.
Manage budget and grant reporting for regional health programming, including specific grant funds.
Collaborate with sports, non-competitive programming, community engagement, and development departments to deliver Special Olympics Florida’s mission including Healthy Athlete (HA) events at sports competitions, schools, and adult day training centers.
Process HAS forms, GMS data entry, filing, and assist athletes with referrals follow up post-screenings as needed.
Develop and maintain a referral database that encompasses free or reduced services for IDD individuals as established or negotiated with providers.
Establish partnerships and affiliates with regional health organizations, hospitals, universities, gyms/fitness centers, and agencies to implement Special Olympics Health opportunities including the Inclusive Health initiative and Inclusive Fitness Initiative.
Recruit health professionals and volunteers within the 8 disciplines to support HA activities by becoming either clinical directors or screeners.
Recruit, train, and oversee interns in a variety of collegiate programs.
Procure and coordinate medical equipment, HA screening supplies, office supplies, and incentives.
Manage relationships with trained Special Olympics Florida Health Messengers in region and provide updates on completion of annual practicum projects.
