About The Position

The Salvation Army Georgia Division is seeking a Regional Major Gifts Director for the Atlanta, Georgia area. This full-time regular position is responsible for raising funds through major gifts from individuals, corporations, and foundations within a designated geographical area of a Salvation Army Division. The role involves aggressively developing and nurturing current and prospective donors, responding to inquiries, and communicating with various stakeholders. The Director will design, revise, and implement giving plans for each donor in their portfolio to achieve annual production goals, consistently moving prospects through the pipeline towards engagement and solicitation. Frequent travel (up to 60% of work time) is required to meet with donors in assigned regions like Carterville, Columbus, Dalton, LaGrange, and Rome. The successful candidate is expected to reside in the Greater Atlanta area, with the position operating as a hybrid of office-based work in Atlanta and remote work in the defined areas. The Salvation Army is committed to meeting human needs through various programs including food distribution, disaster relief, rehabilitation, anti-human trafficking, housing for the homeless, basic needs assistance, and children’s programs.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (preferably in a related field of study) AND three years’ experience performing related fundraising, marketing and/or sales work OR any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Ability to research, solicit, and secure funds from individual, corporate, and foundation relationships.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • The ability to be proactive, disciplined, and able to manage time and priorities effectively without the need for constant direction.
  • Experience developing relationships with the expressed purpose of causing a prescribed action outcome.
  • Ability to maintain accurate and up-to-date donor records (salesforce, donor perfect or any CRM).
  • A passion for “Doing the Most Good”.
  • An active Christian faith in harmony with Salvation Army doctrine and practice.
  • Agreement not to undermine The Salvation Army's religious mission as an employee.
  • Valid State Driver’s License.

Nice To Haves

  • Major gift fund-raising experience is preferred
  • CFRE or ACFRE desired

Responsibilities

  • Raise funds to enable the Mission of The Salvation Army by aggressively developing and nurturing current and prospective donors including individuals, foundations, and corporations.
  • Respond to inquiries and communicate with donors, advisory organization members, Salvation Army staff and Officers.
  • Be responsible for designing, revising, and implementing a giving plan for every donor in their portfolio to reach an annual production goal.
  • Initiating contact, building relationships, and consistently moving prospects through the pipeline toward meaningful engagement and eventual solicitation.
  • Travel often to meet with donors throughout the assigned established region of Carterville, Columbus, Dalton, LaGrange, and Rome.
