About The Position

This role involves traveling between sites in Ohio and Delaware to inspect, maintain, and repair locomotives. Responsibilities include performing routine inspections, troubleshooting and repairing diesel engines, electrical systems, and air brake systems, completing daily servicing, and responding to breakdowns. The position also requires testing brakes, batteries, and electrical systems, tracking oil samples, using schematics and manuals for diagnosis, ordering parts, managing inventory, planning maintenance with site teams, using welding and cutting tools, and recording all work in company systems. A strong focus on safety and adherence to railroad safety rules is essential.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3-5 Years Experience maintaining and repairing locomotives (EMD experience preferred)
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to read technical manuals and electrical schematics
  • Able to work independently and make sound decisions in the field
  • Basic computer skills and ability to use maintenance tracking systems
  • Strong focus on safety and following procedures
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Willing and able to travel regularly between job sites
  • Ability to meet various pre-employment requirements which may include but not limited to: Criminal background check, Drug and alcohol screening, Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) review; valid Driver's license required, Fitness-for-duty assessment to ensure that candidates can safely perform essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation, Ability to receive and maintain site access credentials or badges per site-requirements

Responsibilities

  • Travel between sites in Ohio and Delaware to inspect, maintain, and repair locomotives
  • Perform routine inspections such as 92-day and 184-day checks
  • Troubleshoot and repair diesel engines, electrical systems, and air brake systems
  • Complete daily servicing and respond to breakdowns to keep operations running
  • Perform testing on brakes, batteries, and electrical systems
  • Track oil samples to help find engine problems early
  • Read and use schematics, manuals, and parts catalogs to diagnose issues
  • Order parts and manage inventory needed for scheduled and unscheduled repairs
  • Work with site teams to plan maintenance and reduce downtime
  • Use welding and cutting tools when needed for repairs
  • Record inspections, repairs, and work orders in company systems
  • Support safe work practices and follow all railroad safety rules
