Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry. This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Requirements

  • BS in an Engineering, Technical or Science Field with a minimum of 2+ years of sales, project management, or data center product or design experience required.
  • Strong commercial skills and business acumen with the ability to create and foster customer relationships.
  • Able to work in fast paced, high visibility environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Data Center networks and best practices for data centers, such as testing, troubleshooting, and installation methods.
  • Demonstrates strong leadership abilities.

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of experience as an Implementation Engineer.
  • Successful completion and turnover of hyperscale data centers in region.
  • Prior experience as a Field Engineer, Systems Engineer, Solutions/Applications Engineer, technical designer, installation contractor, and/or managing installation projects is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direction to and develop Implementation Engineers.
  • Report and consolidate team findings and present to DCBU and GES.
  • Improve processes and procedures for Hyperscale Data Center Implementation Team.
  • Drive the innovation adoption process at each assigned strategic account/location to create a preference for Corning products early in the design phase. Provide consultative support as required to secure a Corning specification and incremental revenue for large opportunities.
  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for assigned Hyperscale DC sites. Guide strategic account teams to ensure that all technical needs are met.
  • Report out site information in weekly trip reports.
  • Provide competitive intel based on customer engagements that generate value for market intelligence.
  • Provide product and process improvement ideas.
  • Develop customer, installer, consultant, integrator champions for the innovations and build/maintain relationship.
  • Identify local stakeholders involved in the approval/adoption of our innovations or New Product Innovations (NPIs). Determine timing required to hit design cycles.
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of the regional contacts and the relationships built among key stakeholders.
  • Successfully facilitate first of kind field trials by defining criteria and coordinating internal resources. Track and forecast project schedules to support the purchasing and deployment of new innovations.
  • Demonstrate strategic thinking and autonomous decision-making skills aligned with company and Account Manager objectives/expectations.
  • Coordinate with Engineering Services to provide resource forecasts and schedules for pro bono on-site technical support for key projects within strategic accounts.
  • Leverage thorough, complete and comprehensive understanding of TIA standards and best practices and apply them to technical responses.
  • Complete special projects as required in support of the DCBU organization.
  • Collaborate with quality and manufacturing on root cause analysis for quality issues.
  • Require minimal guidance when issues arise on site and demonstrate ability to navigate between Corning teams.
  • Understand customer applications and guide the customer to adopt the optimal product solutions.
  • Communicate information regarding new products, standards, design trends, and emerging markets to the commercial organization.
  • Travel with or on behalf of our sales team to deliver the appropriate pre and post-sale technical messages to the customer.
  • Digest and communicate voice of customer and customer feedback to the appropriate people such as Market Development, Product Line Management, and/or Market/Business Intelligence.
