The Regional Human Resource Manager is responsible to plan, administer, and coordinate all human resource management activities for Fresh Thyme Market to maximize the strategic use of human resources. This position is a business partner with store and regional leadership to ensure that the assigned stores sustain an environment where each team can maximize their individual and team performance. Leads and implements proactive, effective and consistent delivery of Human Resource solutions, programs and services and maintain functions such as employee relations, performance management, personnel policies, and regulatory compliance. This includes active partnership and collaboration to build strong store teams, identify gaps and present solutions, implementation and assessment of human resource activity. Additionally, the role investigates team member concerns and seeks to resolve employee relations issues or violations while addressing root-cause issues. Regional HR Manager will support Detroit and surrounding markets including Indianapolis, St Houis, Pittsburgh, and Toledo. Travel to these markets is required. Frequency 30-50%.

Requirements

  • Requires a B.S./B.A. degree in a business or related field or equivalent work experience
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years professional experience
  • 5-7 years of HR specific experience in a corporate retail setting, multi-unit a plus
  • Previous case management experience (to include corrective action processes, termination, conflict mediation, etc.)
  • Advanced knowledge of human resource policies and practices in a professional retail environment
  • Advanced administrative and office management skills
  • Ability to handle highly sensitive information with absolute confidentiality and professionalism
  • General knowledge of employment law and practices
  • Ability to adapt to the ever-changing retail environment while working in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Must have the ability to take initiative when problems arise.
  • Must have advanced attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written communication and documentation skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn HR systems applications.
  • Ability to multitask is essential.
  • Must be able to lead, support and contribute to team goals.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible to work with field operations teams for all employee relations issues
  • Partner with the administration of compensation, benefits and performance management systems, departmental training and safety programs.
  • Conducts needs assessments, training, the facilitation of small and large groups in meetings and workshops, and partners in the resolution of employee relations issues.
  • Provides consultation, direction and recommendations to leadership regarding employee relations activities, dispute resolution procedures, corrective actions, terminations and EEOC matters affecting employment.
  • Provides interpretation of company policies and procedures covering the areas of employee relations, compensation, benefits administration and workers’ compensation.
  • Trains leadership on best practices regarding employee and labor relations.
  • Collaborate with regional HR team on the development of effective performance management including performance appraisals, giving and receiving feedback, competency development and assessments.
  • Lead a variety of engagement activities and processes both corporately and regionally applied, such as round tables, orientation, on-boarding, culture surveys, etc.
  • Supports talent management strategies through engagement with and monitoring of team members in pivotal or rotational roles.
  • Facilitates career paths, succession planning and workforce planning discussions.
  • Coaches Store Directors, Line Leaders and Team Leaders on how to maximize performance.
  • Perform difficult staffing duties, including dealing with understaffing, refereeing disputes, how to progressively discipline employees and appropriately administer disciplinary procedures.
  • Analyze training needs to design employee development, language training and health and safety programs.
  • Analyze statistical data and reports to identify and determine causes of personnel problems and develop recommendations for improvement of organization's personnel policies and practices.
  • Conduct exit interviews to identify reasons for employee termination, as needed.
  • Investigate and report on industrial accidents for insurance carriers.
  • Represent organization at personnel-related hearings and investigations, when directed by VP HR.
  • Negotiate bargaining agreements and help interpret labor contracts.
  • Oversee the evaluation, classification and rating of occupations and job positions.
  • Develop and/or administer special projects in areas such as training programs and employee awards.
  • Other duties as assigned.
