About the Role As the Regional Head of Procurement, Labor, Security & Facilities, you will lead procurement strategy across critical operating expenditure categories that enable Maersk’s Contract Logistics operations throughout North America. Reporting to the Regional Head of Procurement, L&S, you will be responsible for defining and executing sourcing strategies across third-party labor, security, facility management, utilities, consumables, and related services that support operational continuity, efficiency, and growth. Working closely with Operations, Finance, People, Legal, Global Category Managers, and business stakeholders, you will drive cost leadership, strengthen supplier governance, optimize workforce solutions, and improve visibility and control across regional spend. You will also lead a high-performing procurement team, champion digitization initiatives, and help shape scalable service solutions that support Maersk's expanding warehousing network.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field; MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience across Procurement, Supply Chain, Operations, or related fields.
  • Proven experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or vendor management within operational and service-based environments.
  • Demonstrated experience sourcing and managing contingent labor, including staffing models, supplier performance, and commercial structures.
  • Strong understanding of labor compliance requirements, worker classification, co-employment risk, and local labor regulations.
  • Experience leveraging workforce management platforms such as VMS, MSP models, and timekeeping tools.
  • Strong commercial acumen, including contract negotiation, cost modeling, and value creation delivery.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams across geographies and organizational levels.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence senior leaders in a matrixed environment.
  • Analytical, results-oriented, and driven by a strong sense of ownership, integrity, and accountability.

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute procurement strategies across all in-scope OPEX categories aligned with cost leadership and operational performance objectives.
  • Drive measurable value creation through strategic sourcing, demand management, specification standardization, and consumption control.
  • Embed a Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) mindset across service categories, balancing cost, service quality, and flexibility.
  • Define and execute the strategy for sourcing and managing third-party labor, including temporary workforce, agency labor, and outsourced service models.
  • Evaluate and optimize sourcing channels, including Managed Service Providers (MSPs), Vendor Management Systems (VMS), direct sourcing models, and strategic staffing partners.
  • Standardize rate cards, markups, and commercial structures across suppliers and geographies to improve consistency and cost control.
  • Lead the selection, contracting, and governance of labor suppliers, ensuring clear service level agreements, productivity targets, and performance expectations.
  • Establish compliance frameworks covering labor laws and local statutory requirements across operating jurisdictions.
  • Partner with HR, Legal, and Compliance teams to mitigate risks associated with contingent workforce management.
  • Drive adoption and optimization of workforce management platforms, including VMS, timekeeping systems, and analytics tools.
  • Ensure adherence to Maersk’s Supplier Code of Conduct and Human Rights standards.
  • Own and enforce governance, transparency, and control over third-party operating expenditure across the region.
  • Establish clear budgeting, forecasting, and spend management frameworks across labor, facilities, utilities, and services.
  • Challenge demand assumptions, service requirements, and cost drivers to reduce inefficiencies and prevent cost leakage.
  • Drive accountability for OPEX performance through close partnership with Finance and Operations.
  • Strengthen controls that minimize theft, shrinkage, and security-related losses across the network.
  • Lead end-to-end sourcing initiatives across service categories, including labor-intensive contracts and multi-site agreements.
  • Negotiate commercial agreements that optimize cost, service quality, scalability, and risk allocation.
  • Ensure Procurement is engaged early in service design and contracting decisions to maximize value creation.
  • Drive digitization and process efficiency through catalogs and AI-enabled sourcing solutions.
  • Establish and lead a structured supplier relationship management framework across labor agencies, facility management providers, utilities, and other key service partners.
  • Drive supplier performance, competitiveness, and continuous improvement through strong governance and KPI management.
  • Provide actionable insights on labor market trends, inflation, utilities pricing, and supplier dynamics.
  • Develop and execute the annual Procurement Gameplan, ensuring delivery against savings, efficiency, and performance objectives.
  • Strengthen governance, internal controls, and compliance with applicable policies and frameworks.
  • Own and manage the SG&A budget for the team.
  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing and engaged procurement team.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Attract, retain, and develop top talent while implementing capability-building and succession planning initiatives.
  • Lead and support cost transformation, productivity improvement, and operational efficiency initiatives as directed by senior leadership.
